Consensus in TFA comments is that its an actual photo, using certain type of flash/lense.

This is screaming out for a photoshop contest.

The sad thing is that the person responsible for photoshoping that image is now either dead or in a prison camp because NK is being laughed at for this.

It looks like the guy third from left was the only one actually there.

I would say they should be shot for a shop like that, but they most likely have been by now.

That was until someone loaded it up to fotoforensics and proved the shop. The error levels on the background do not match those of the people or those of the building. There are distinct separate elements combined on the photo, as well as the rainbowing effect produced through the use of Photoshop.

The people in the image have been compressed more times than the trees or ground. Same with the building. The sky in the background has been saved more times than anything else. These results are impossible to achieve in a single non-composite shot.

You know Chinese photoshop masters took those officials and also put them into porn scenes for the sake of amusement.  Those photoshop masters know a good joke no doubt about it.

I don't know anything about shooping or that fotoforensics site, but I grabbed a few random pictures off GIS with roughly the same composition (people standing outdoors on a sunny day with the sky in the background) and all they looked roughly the same as the Korean one after uploading them there, to my eye at least.

I'm no expert but looking at the link at the fotoforensic site analysis, the ELS levels for the people are very different than the background. Reading the tutorial there on ELS, I'm convinced the people were added.

And you just admitted in the same paragraph that you don't know anything about shopping (or how to spell properly), thereby complete invalidating your opinion.

But the people aren't lit with the same light as the people. It would make since that they tend to stick out as different.

The guys that cut and pasted were pretty tight on the lasso tool.  They did the eyeglasses, did a fair job on the hair.  That's part of the problem....they were too tight.  Where they failed was shadowing, sun glare and and possible size cropping on the background....seems they were off just a little bit.

I sat in on some students learning photoshop in Chongjin in June. Yes, that is Adobe Photoshop.

farm6.staticflickr.com

They are learning. Lets give them some time. I have seen stuff KCNA clearly done poorly. Their philosophy is to only show the Marshal Kim Jong-un in the best light. I am really good at suppressing my giggle reflex after five visits to the DPRK.

So just how much IS gawker paying for links now?

That was about a half step up from a Buzzfeed link.  Which is like saying getting stabbed in the testicles is slightly better than getting shot in the testicles.

It sure is terrible when governments throw such transparent and obvious lies out there, assuming their citizens are stupid enough to believe them.

Thank goodness we don't do that here.

I looked at the pictures and I honestly dont 'see' anything. Everyone says its shopped so I guess it is but it looks okay to me.
I sometimes wonder if it would be more merciful to just Chemical bomb  N.Korea into extinction. At least it would end the ghastly suffering and grief of its wretched citizens. Someone on Fark wrote that it would take two generations of proper care to reverse the trans generational damage done to those people due to catastrophic neglect and starvation. The turd of a leader seems to be eating pretty well though.
