I know, right?  I wouldn't mind all the projection if the movie was at least interesting and not this WATB bullshiat.

I know there are people who's hearts are missing, who can't fathom why we as a country should care about providing the help to millions of people that the ACA does. I can accept that. But do you guys really feel bad that some geezer can't take a picture of a buffalo? That bothers you, and someone who can't get basic healthcare doesn't? You aren't missing a heart. You have a black heart.

FTFA:It is disgusting. Especially because the Obama administration's directives are geared to inflict as much pain as possible with no point other than to make life difficult for Americans.

*sigh*

Waaaaah! He won't give in to all our demands!!

Mooooom. President Obama won't let me win,

tell him he has to let us win.

It's not fair he keeps winning all the things.. it's my turn now. We worked really hard on Fox interviews and spent lots of money, it's our turn to win. Tell him!

Seriously Obama is a Soup Nazi.. and it's ridiculous. It has nothing to do with the ACA except that Dems apparently want to punish the fark out of Medical Device Manufacturers. So basically Dems think medical device manufacturers should get farked and the GOP is trying to stop it. But because no one gets that..they are all.. "How dare GOP try to stop Obamacare" which is completely not what is happening (see the first part of the post).

I still don't understand why Republicans think our national tourist attractions rank at the top of the list of things that should remain open when, by law, only vital government services are supposed to be functioning.

If the GOP drags us into economic collapse, nobody will be able to afford medical devices.  This is like saving a baby from the pain of teething by sticking a grenade in its mouth and pulling the pin.

He's being a "dick" so we can avoid having to go through all this bullshiat every 6 weeks for eternity.  That is the precedent that Republicans are trying to start.  Every 6 weeks on the verge of another shutdown.

The GOP is not the one who is responsible for the shutdown. It is Obama not budging not moving. I mean have you even read CNN this week. WTF? Seriously they have given him all sorts of options and all of them are pretty good. It's Obama being a dick. Quit blaming others and we might get somewhere.

So this Marta Mossburg chick is pissed. I get that. Government shut down means National Parks being shut down leading to disgruntled tourists and the like. Sure, like night following day. But then she seems to think that this is all somehow Obama's idea or fault.

When you have people like Bachmann crowing over how this is what they wanted all along and RW media flacks trying to minimize the effects of the sequester, the shut down and the implications of allowing the debt ceiling bill to become an annual game of chicken how can any person capable of reading and thinking for oneself come to such a conclusion?

I think the reason why people as a whole don't understand how dickish the administration is being is is because they've lost engagement in the legislative process.  Each postponement of a deal that is directed by the maestro-in-chief is done with a wink to Tip O'Neil's tactics in the "hot tub" Congress under Carter.  Calling Obama a "Soup Nazi" is actually a pretty weak response considering his recalcitrance.  There's no secret code here, he's got Biden working as his pool guy in the Senate, with Pelosi determining the "sponge-worthiness" of the GOP offers, all in an effort to gum up the works.

My advice to Boehner is to pour himself a rye whiskey and relax. If I were his legislative caddy, I could point to seven points to drive home and weaken the Administration's position. First, rescind the bailout of GM and Cadillac, then relax shower head flow standards, chain the Doll ar to the Yuan, eliminate the "Friar's Club" tax, lift the Federal Reserve interest "wig", master calzone baking (just kidding), and eliminate federal bottle deposits. All he has to do is wait out the Democrats and soon they will be sending invitations begging him to come back to the negotiating table as the liberal coalition crumbles.

For the Obama administration, the GOP-created shutdown is just one more GOP-created political crisis it won't let go to waste has to farking deal with.

Fixed that for you, author of TFA.  No need to thank me, but if you could, kindly go fark yourself.

2013-10-12 05:14:26 PM

LouDobbsAwaaaay: Cup_O_Jo: The GOP is not the one who is responsible for the shutdown.

"We're very excited," said Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn). "It's exactly what we wanted, and we got it."

"It's wonderful," said Rep. John Abney Culberson (R-Tex), clapping his hands to emphasize the point. "We're 100 percent united!"

Rep. Tom Graves (R-Ga.) said he and his colleagues "saw the pain and the hurt and the fear, the concern about what would happen as a result of this law. And that created a renewed resolve not only in myself but in others after we got back from the August recess."

"I just think you saw members who said, 'Look, let's just do what we all know needs to be done and frankly what the American people want to see done,'" said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who worked closely with Graves on the plan and helped persuade House leaders to accept it.

Ahm, you seem to have forgotten the "rule". Let me explain this to you, at no time can you use republican quotes against them. If you do, you're lying. Also, many of these people that buy into this kind of crap are what's referred to as "not a reports kind of guy", therefore, any presentation of "facts" is to be summarily dismissed since they know the truth "in their hearts".

Remember when the republicans used to believe fact? I miss those days

No soup for you today, food stamp recipients, the debit card computers are down. Reports of "Power failure" and "computer upgrades".

"Power failure" = Assuming a real fair-quality data center, multiple power sources from multiple utility companies all failed at once, the battery back up for the power supplies failed, and the diesel, natural gas, etc backup generator system failed. Plus, they didn't bother putting the backup network of servers in a geographically different data center.

Most likely a cascade failure. Bunch of web servers and computers plugged into "redundant" power circuits "A" and "B", drawing too much power, more than 40% of the "maximum" power from each. No problem? When either A or B fails, all the power has to come from the other, which is now at >80% of the maximum, the "derated" maximum at which data center alarms go off and circuit breakers operate. So all the "redundantly powered" servers are dead. If some on either A or B used circuit C as their second power instead it can go too, and so on.

Variations: the computers were already using more than the battery back up or backup utility or generator could provide.

Why? Someone was cheap. They installed too many servers for the power. Cheap penny pinching manager decided backup power or backup servers wouldn't have to be as powerful or better than the main ones - it's just the backup, after all, it isn't even going to be running! Well, almost never. So they just can't bring themselves not to buy cheaper, and it fails the first real test because overloading is what breaks the main resources in the first place.

What "test"? One way of overloading being knowing the servers will all actually be using only a small part of their power and power consumption at any one time. It should average out over servers. Especially, those darn backup servers shouldn't be busy. Unless, you decide to tell all the servers at the same time to run at 100% doing a "Software update".

If you were dumb enough to upgrade the backup servers at the same time, and the power went, all the servers could have to be rebuilt from some sort of backups. If internal power infrastructure blew up, the "upgrades" could take days to replace.

No conspiracy here btw. Just standard incompetence. OTOH it might take several days to fix. Interesting to see the benefit recipients' reaction.  All helpful like the Bailey' Building and Loan customers in A Wonderful Life, I predict, people come together in times of trouble.
