Is this another million vet march the media doesn't want me to know

That's disappointing. I was hoping for breaking news updates all weekend using "Convoy" as their intro music.

Well, at least until the football games started, at which point the truckers would probably make for the plentiful bars around Capitol Hill.

What, 'cancelled' the day after virtually no one showed up, and no one outside the right wing media noticed they existed?

That is kind of like quitting your job after you were fired from it.

Last night Rachel Maddow played some clips from local news media of interviews with some of the truckers.  Let's just say they didn't do the white working class any favors . . .

Look on the bright side. We can still do that, just swap out "Convoy" for "Blame It on the Rain."

Dude, seriously?

We really need to start regularly testing truckers for meth. The fact that these morons aren't considered unemployable is breathtaking.

I think I get it. Rather than having one protest with 1,000,000 people attending; they are going for 83,334 protests where 12 people show in order up to get their 1,000,000 people. It's just that the liberal mainstream MSM media is too dumb to figure it out.

Nonlinear cause and effect is one of the hardest concepts in temporal mechanics. Due to tears in space time sometimes the effect precedes the cause. This is one of those cases. The density of derp around the shutdown and ACA causes a tear in space time that allowed the cancelation to travel back in time and cause no one to show up.

This just in:  18 wheelers use a shiatload of diesel fuel and cost a heluva lot to operate.

"do your research" the new "study it out"?

what strikes me as sad is we all say a variation of that when having these debates but (mostly) we aren't meaning to go read infowars.

Driving around listening to talk radio 15 hours a day every day for years on end is harmful for the mind. I doubt even the most rational person could survive unscathed.

It's kind of like with my friend who is a delivery driver.  They spend all day listening to right wing derp radio and it beats the stupid crap into their minds.

I love that even in this group, there are factions and infighting. If a virus killed every human being on the face of the Earth except for 3 Americans, the first thing they would do is look at each other and ask "Democrat or Republican?"

Oh, it got better: "Stay out of our healthcare, let the doctors handle that.  Don't get into things they don't understand!"

Clearly, we should give up on government's involvement in infrastructure too, because very few, if any, congressmen are engineers.  Might as well forget about having a military as well unless we can pack congress with veterans.

If only there was some type of group or organization they could join as truckers to pool resources. Perhaps then they would be able to better control their economic situation and gain political influence. Oh well.

2013-10-12 09:15:19 AM
There is an important lesson everyone needs to be learning from this.

That there is a large, self-propagating, media machine out there servicing nonsense, and it's dragging the rest of the country along for the ride.

Non-events, non-issues, non-facts, nonsense.

It's how they built the tea party. It's how they brought you birtherism and soshulism and how they maintain that 27% base that won't abandon them because their noise reverberates and their followers equivocate that to resonating.

It's corporate astroturf bullshiat. Laugh all you want, we're talking about it.
Last I checked any publicity is good publicity.

The corporate astroturf has largely lost control of them now.  I heard the other night that FreedomWorks is actually bankrupt.  The Chamber of Commerce is pushing to prevent a default now.  But there's no respected leadership anymore.  It's like herding rabid cats now.

Actually, no, we're not talking about "it."

If we were talking about "it," we'd be talking about whatever in the hell the trucker's goal was through this protest.  Last time I checked, not even the truckers knew what they were protesting.  Everyone just told them to show up and block traffic.  Most of them said "god, that's a stupid-ass idea" and went about their business.

So yeah, your "important lesson" that we all learned is that if you're going to protest something, make sure it's something that, you know, actually exists, and that you have obtainable goals.

Oh, that, and make sure you know who's in charge from the get-go.

Not to be all Geek, but this keeps reminding me of a scenario brought up in Deep Space Nine. If the Founders did die out from the plague Section 31 gave them, then the Jem'Hadar would start tearing apesh*t throughout the galaxy with no way to keep them under control.

Cousin's a trucker.  The trucking industry wouldn't be able to keep staffed if all the trucking companies started doing that.

We're talking about long haul truckers here? Guys that drive from Chicago to Seattle in the dead of winter? The last cowboys of modern 'Merka?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Maybe many of the truckers didn't show up because they actually like the president and America's direction...
