The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court

Why do they keep calling that rubber-stamp office a "court?"

You know, if Congressional Republicans are really that desperate to find something - anything - to defund to save face, here is one thing I'd be absolutely fine letting go of...

The only thing worse than auto-playing videos is auto-playing ad videos.

NutWrench: Why do they keep calling that rubber-stamp office a "court?"

Because it's not a rubber-stamp office.
(just the first example I found in a google search)

I mean, half of the stories that people get outraged about ARE stories because they are stories about the FISA court calling BS on what the NSA (or others) is doing.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I think FISA is perfect, and I believe that intelligence agencies take advantage of the limited resources of FISA to get around the letter or spirit of the law.  And I am sure they have made decisions that I disagree with.  But at least it EXISTS.

And at least the current POTUS hasn't decided that he doesn't even need to clear his spying programs with them.

(That we know of).

Does anybody really think we should go back to the old way of doing it? That's where Hoover and the Fibbies wiretapped without any kind of judicial oversight  and then just framed you up based on what they they thought they should have found.

$10 says they kept doing the stuff they were ordered not to.

This. But Republicans are for it (as are Democrats), so that won't happen
