LadyHawke: 40/42... forgot the name for persimmons, and never heard of kiwano melon.

It's delicious. Tastes kind of like banana mixed with a little kiwi. Expensive, though. Costs me five bucks each when I get them.

33/42. Stupid having to google the proper spellings for a bunch, but at least they allowed some of the more common terms to be used - dragonfruit, nectarine, etc. - and to get the right answer,

I refused to google the spelling of "cantaloupe" (kept thinking it was canteloupe for some reason), it accepted muskmelon.

37
missed:
guava
chestnut
kiwano
passion fruit
dragonfruit

took too long to remember how to spell cantaloupe (friggin u)

2013-10-12 12:08:57 PM
39/42. Missed the kiwano (unsurprisingly), chestnuts, and passion fruit (which I should have guessed).

There's a small bug in the game - I was typing in 'grapefruit' but it grabbed 'grape' as a correct answer before I had even noticed them.

2013-10-12 12:09:29 PM
I thought the peach looked like an apple. But after it rejected apple, I figured out it was a peach.

Everyone should know what a kiwano is. Delicious fruit, man.

Not sure a dragonfruit is actually a fruit, though. I thought it was a cactus.

2013-10-12 12:10:33 PM
I missed chestnut because they looked like figs.

2013-10-12 12:12:13 PM
I only got one right.  I kept typing ta-tas except the one that I definitely recognized to be pears, which turned out to be an persimmon but there's a pear in there somewhere so it gave it to me.

2013-10-12 12:15:35 PM
I hate to be the turd in the punch bowl, but bell peppers are berries, there's more. I won't get into it.

/now I want melon

Regardless, they are still a fruit.

Smart is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Intelligent is knowing not to put it into a fruit salad

2013-10-12 12:23:12 PM
Missed Persimmon, Guava, Kiwano and Lychee.

Had most of em in a minute, took me a while to spell pomegranate, avocado, cantaloupe and zucchini right though...

I can't aloupe.

2013-10-12 12:26:51 PM
38/42

Missed passion fruit, kiwano, pitaya, and chili pepper. I thought they were cayenne or long hot peppers.

2013-10-12 12:27:37 PM
...the fark is a lychee?

2013-10-12 12:28:18 PM
32/42, because it took me over a minute to figure out how the game was played. Yeah, I'm not smrt.

2013-10-12 12:28:45 PM
man, I wish the pomegranates growing in my yard looked like that

I do expect a bumper crop of meyer lemons, no oranges, almonds or other fruiting trees in my yard to produce, just lots of meyer lemons and the figs will be eaten before I can get to try them

I got 41/42, like the others I never had a horned melon.

/is it cheating that I had to use my google search bar auto suggest to figure out the spelling of some?

2013-10-12 12:30:10 PM
42/42.

Chili peppers and chestnuts threw me for a minute.

2013-10-12 12:32:41 PM
Even if I had figured out the rules earlier, I've never seen a lychee, a persimmon, or a papaya, and never even heard of a horned melon or a dragon fruit.

2013-10-12 12:35:57 PM
I know my fruits pretty well. One of my cousins is extremely flamboyant, and I've met some of his friends.

39/42

Sorry I'm late to the thread.  I just took 27 different quizzes.

2013-10-12 12:42:10 PM
The problem is that this isn't a test of whether one knows the names of fruits but a test of whether one can spell them. Some of us suck at spelling.

2013-10-12 12:44:07 PM
40/42, thought chesnuts were something else, and never heard of the horned melon. Want to try one though.

Mein Fuhrer I Can Walk: ...the fark is a lychee?

Dude, you're missing out. They're awesome in small quantities; hard to eat too many because they're so sweet.

2013-10-12 01:03:23 PM

Mein Fuhrer I Can Walk: ...the fark is a lychee?

It's a Asian fruit that has a think shell, a soft fruit and large pit. The fruit is the texture of a peeled grape, and it taste similar to tutti fruity flavor. It's really delicious fresh, but the canned version tends to be a little less flavorful and a bit tougher.

2013-10-12 01:05:51 PM
Starfruit is amazing by the way. Wish I could get it more often.

2013-10-12 01:08:11 PM

Nogale: Bell peppers and zucchini are fruits?

Yes, you have a problem understanding that?

2013-10-12 01:08:25 PM

Nogale: Bell peppers and zucchini are fruits?

Botanically speaking, yeah.

I only got 37/42. Missed passionfruit (doh!), guava, lychee, kiwano and pitaya. Considering I don't eat those um, well, ever, I guess that's not too bad...

2013-10-12 01:08:35 PM
I got them all except for the guava and the lychee.  Guava paste is red, so I didn't expect the flesh of that one to be white.

2013-10-12 01:12:22 PM
Well, I don't live in the Back Bay of Boston, so not too well.

I actually guessed "buckeye" for the chestnuts.

Quiz gave it to me. Weird.

34/42, I got the standards, got some of the obscure...
Missed Persimmon (I should have known this but I was kicking myself for the name), Lychee (Never seen one but I've had their alcohol), Hazelnut, Chestnut (I completely blanked on these and I feel dumb), Passion fruit (It's been a while since I've seen one), Kiwano (Never heard of it), Blood Orange (Never seen one).
Thanks for the timekiller! Off to have some outdoor fun now!

2013-10-12 01:31:16 PM
35, I didn't even see the pomegranate or I would have gotten that. Missed persimmon, guava, the nuts and the kiwano (what is that?).

They really do.

42/42 but had the most difficulty with cantaloupe because I tried to spell it with an e instead of an a.

kiwano tastes a bit like unripe banana

I knew all but the kiwano, but I got 37/42 because it took me several tries to spell some correctly. Kept typing rasberry and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work, til the timer ran out. RasPberry. Pomegranate took me a shiatload of tries. Damn I suck.
