Creoena: $69 million football stadium? For high school? How about, you know, using it on educating kids?Just a thought.
Weaver95: Sounds like SOCIALISMS to me. Real texans would let the free market build that stadium all on its own.
johnnieconnie: I'd like to see some Texans opposed to funding a new football stadium...do those people exist?
Lumber Jack Off: what happened to just running some 30ft tall aluminum bleachers along the sidelines for high schools?(or even concrete which i've seen a few do but even still that wouldn't cost millions of dollars)the only reason I could see for spending the kind of money would be if this was a county stadium that all the high schools inthe area would share - but seeing as how almost all games are played on Fridays that would be a moot point (and still a ridiculous amount of money)
bikerwalla: Creoena: $69 million football stadium? For high school? How about, you know, using it on educating kids?Just a thought.Thousands of people don't show up dressed in the high school's colors on Friday night to watch some kids take a chemistry test. Sad to say, this is what brings the hometown pride.
Coolfusis: Not like they're paying much to maintain an astroturf field with a few hundred band kids that are required to clean it after the game.
groppet: I remember the stink my school got in when they got lights for the field for $500k. If they had asked for $69 mil they would have been laughed out of the county.Funny thing they only got to use the lights once when I went there because they promoted the hell out of the first game under the lights and the place was packed. Somehow a mini riot started and some guy got hit in the face with a 2X4. After that all night games cancelled until further notice. They started having them again after I graduated.

Satanic_Hamster: CSB:I drive down Katy Ft.-Bend road all the time, one of the main routes for me into work.

r1niceboy: school officials, local politicians, all being able to splash out on Olympic sized swimming pools and new tits for both the wife and mistress.
r1niceboy: You need a parking lot, a grass of turf field, bleachers to hold 15k, lights, media center, and changing rooms. You could do all that for considerably less. In England Colchester United built a stadium holding 10k, with expansion room to double, for barely $20 million. They had to figure in land costs in a built up area, too. This whole venture proposed in Katy sounds like a kickback boondoggle, it'll end up with several contractors, school officials, local politicians, all being able to splash out on Olympic sized swimming pools and new tits for both the wife and mistress.
