Whenever I see this it just sounds wrong to me. Shouldn't it be "setting foot"? My foot don't step.

It also steps down and sets down.  But, your initial premise is the problem.  Your foot does indeed "step".  Footsteps, you may have heard of them.

I'm okay with this as long as it's also publicizing the idea that you should put away your farking phone if you're going to a movie.  If it's that important, if you think you're that important, go elsewhere.

True, but, there are a couple of  things to consider here:

a). The article states she just released a movie, so, if she wants to pimp out her new movie in Austin at one of the Dafthouses, she cant show up to do the pimping now.

b). Alamo Drafthouse doesn't NEED celebrities to draw more business. The no-texting policy is pretty damn sweet enough to be a draw within it self

Lemme get this straight. People pay $10-15 to see  a movie for 90-120 minutes and they can't restrain themselves from sending text messages to their friends and family during that time? What might they miss? Is someone on their deathbed? Is there something that would cause them to leave? Or are thety just "Liking" the fact that their BFF ordered a pizza for dinner?

A row of illuminated LCD screens in front of you while you watch a movie, accompanied by the sound of many dickheads tapping on their screen is very distracting. If you want to text, go to the lobby. Or better yet, don't go to a movie.

yep. and it's become such a pain in the ass that Alamo (and places like it) have had to come up with shiat like banning texting (and showing up late for a movie: they wont let you in if you are late) so that it doesn't distract others from enjoying the movie.

I've only been to one movie at an Alamo Drafthouse (cowboys vs aliens) and it was the best time I've ever had, yes this includes all the time I went to movies as a child. I have no idea why this hasn't taken over the country, it's what movies are all about!  So many places here are trying to do similar things by treating you like a fancy pants and pampering you. I don't need that shiat, just treat me like an adult and let me watch the damn movie.

The Alamo Drafthouse is the best thing to ever happen to movies, and it was a glorious day last fall when they opened a theater in Kansas City.  I very very rarely go anywhere else, now.

...really? You're gonna play "the customer is always right" card?

Hell, if anything, actually enforcing his rules will draw people to the Drafthouses.  Sure, it'll scare people off...the kind of people they didn't want there anyway.

Never said the customer is always right. I agree with enforcing the rules. What I said was that you can't talk to your customers that way. " I'm sorry sir, but you've been warned twice about talking so we're going to have ask you to leave." That's okay. " Get the hell out and don't come back." That's not okay.

Why not?

Seriously.  I ask that as someone who worked retail for almost seven years, and very much prided myself on always being polite and providing excellent customer service.  But if a person is going to unilaterally decide that the rules don't apply to them because they don't want them to, why shouldn't they be spoken to like the spoiled brats they are?

Ha.

People LOVE that attitude.  If anything it's brought them MORE business, considering they've expanded to about 26 theaters either open or under construction.  The customers that are offended by that attitude are the ones they don't want.

We've got one that just opened up in Loudoun County, VA...about 12 miles from us.  It has become our go-to movie experience.  Since the theater is new, the waiter that seats you heavily emphasizes that if you violate the rules (which basically amount to bothering your fellow movie patrons), they will unapologetically throw your ass out.

I love being able to order a drink (or three), get a bowl of popcorn with REAL butter, have a juicy burger...they have a huge draft selection of really great craft beers!!!

They are fantastic, and I have nothing but good things to say about them.  It is worth the extra money, as far as ticket price is concerned, to pay for a guaranteed nice time where I do not have to contend with noisy teenagers dicking around on their cellphones.

I almost got thrown out for laughing and I suppose maybe a bit of out loud "OMG" moments.  Yes I was drunk.  It was one of those Weird Wednesday things down here at the 6th street location.  The "host" of the show was pretty douchey about it.  I can't understand showing a completely ridiculous pot exploitation movie from the 70's and expecting the audience to be absolutely silent.  I know I sound douchey, but come on.  I highly doubt I was ruining this form of high art for anyone there.  But hey, this is the attitude of the hipsters down here about crap like this.  They spent like 15 minutes before it started making fun of it and showing how bad and terrible the movie was.  And yes, I am silent and considerate at a normal movie showing, but up until it started this was billed as a fun "event" and they made it seem like laughing and jeering was encouraged.  Plus it costs about $2.

Master Pancake

And they got some damn good chili cheese fries.
