snternetSecurityGuard: wax_on: Fact:  Snapple used to be a lightly sweetened juice without a lot of nasty high fructose corn syrup.  That was like 20 years ago, back when gas was under a dollar.  Now it's just awful, I would never willingly drink one.

Better check the calendar on the "gas under a dollar" fact. I recall sleeping overnight in a gas line in the late '70's just to buy gasoline for the princely sum of $0.99 per gallon. I'm pretty certain it have inched up a lot higher by 1993.

A lot of gas pumps weren't set up to handle anything over 99 cents per gallon. I recall buying gasoline by the litre for a short while while the pump manufacturers came up with a fix.

Gas was routinely under a dollar in late 80's early 90's.

I moved to Nashville in late 2001, just after 9/11, and it was 98c for gas.
I can't remember any other price points, that one stands out as I'd just moved from abroad where it was about $6 a gallon, so 98c was crazy cheap.

In 1989 I distinctly remember paying around 89 cents a gallon around my home town.  my car was a '78 cutlass that drank gasoline like a wino drinks thunderbird.

it was glorious.  v-8 engine, took around 12-15 bucks to fill the tank, if that much.  farking pocket change.

these days my 10 year old impala takes at least 40 bucks to fill up.

Next you'll tell me that some of Fark's headlines are inaccurate.

Ricardo Klement: Next you'll be telling me that Bud Light's Real Men of Genius weren't, in fact, geniuses.

True fact: The guy who sang MROG was the same guy who sang Survivors's Eye of the Tiger.

RogermcAllen: snowshovel: It was always bothersome to me that when Snapple said their drinks were made from "the best stuff on earth", that what they meant was high fructose corn syrup.

Ok smart guy, name one ingredient better than high fructose corn syrup.  I'll wait.

Riboflavin, unless you mean in Snapple, in which case, I have no idea.
