The death penalty is too good for him.  His punishment should make Prometheus say "dang that is extreme".

This.

But yes... I do hope nothing but the worst for the asshole who did this. The mom should be punished too.

Di Atribe: GoldSpider: INeedAName: Wow. You're an idiot.

So you don't think being chronically poor/unemployed puts a strain on one's psyche?

I didn't see anywhere in this article where the perpetrator was poor. And are you really insinuating that people with money don't harm others?

I fell for it too. Some people just dig trolling threads about an infant's imminent death I guess.

I've been poor. I was frustrated and angry, but I never thought about beating a child because of it. This guy is an animal.

mikaloyd: If only that child had had a millionaire father this never would have happened? Is that what you are saying?.

Makes you wonder how much Dad is kicking in.

Di Atribe: I didn't see anywhere in this article where the perpetrator was poor.

I'd wager he's not exactly rolling in dough.

Di Atribe: And are you really insinuating that people with money don't harm others?

Sure they do, but not for the same reasons.  A state of impoverishment isn't typically something a person can control, so that ought to be a factor in deciding whether or not this individual should be charged with a crime.

2013-10-11 03:26:41 PM

mikaloyd: GoldSpider: wxboy: I will never understand how a sane adult human being can bring him or herself to harm a small child like this.

Blame poverty.

maybe he's saying that being poor is an excuse to beat children to death, in which case "Wow. You're and idiot." fits very well

Death penalty is too good for him. Life in solitary. Actively try to make him insane. See if you can get him to commit suicide with a spork.

It's Sioux Falls South Dakota, everyone from the coasts assumes that South Dakota is full of poverty and meth.

Lots of guys do this because they don't want to raise some other guy's kid. The Milke kid was probably killed because his killer didn't want to raise him. So they told him he was going to go see Santa Claus and took him out in the desert and shot him.

2013-10-11 03:35:46 PM

what_now: Jesus Christ. I don't know anything about this guy, or well, football, but what the fark? Who beats a toddler to death?

I work in the biz.......there's always been a lot of SNAT  (suspected non-accidental trauma), but the amount of it is increasing, as well as the severity.  lots of reasons why.

nekom: Radak: vudukungfu: Some sick bastard better hope he doesn't get out of prison.

Going to prison for beating a two year old to death?  I doubt he's going to need to worry about getting out.

It's conceivable that he could get the death penalty.  I'm not familiar with SD law, but there are going to be pretty much nothing but aggravating circumstances here.

According to the Death Penalty Information Center, South Dakota requires at least one of the following ten aggravating circumstances:

South Dakota-
(1)The murder was especially heinous, atrocious, cruel or depraved (or involved torture)
(2) The capital offense was committed during the commission of, attempt of, or escape from a specified felony (such as robbery, kidnapping, rape, sodomy, arson, oral copulation, train wrecking, carjacking, criminal gang activity, drug dealing, or aircraft piracy)
(3) The defendant knowingly created a grave risk of death for one or more persons in addition to the victim of the offense
(4) The murder was committed for pecuniary gain or pursuant to an agreement that the defendant would receive something of value
(5) The defendant caused or directed another to commit murder, or the defendant procured the commission of the offense by payment, promise of payment, or anything of pecuniary value
(6) The murder was committed to avoid or prevent arrest, to effect an escape, or to conceal the commission of a crime
(7) The defendant has been convicted of, or committed, a prior murder, a felony involving violence, or other serious felony
(8) The capital offense was committed by a person who is incarcerated, has escaped, is on probation, is in jail, or is under a sentence of imprisonment
(9)Any murder is wantonly vile, horrible, and inhuman is the victim is less than 13 years of age
(10) The victim was a government employee, including peace officers, police officers, federal agents, firefighters, judges, jurors, defense attorneys, and prosecutors, in the course of his or her duties
(11)The person murders a peace officer or fireman who is acting in the lawful discharge of an official duty and who the person knows is a peace officers or fireman
(12)The victim was a correctional officer

#9 clearly applies, and #1 likely does as well.

It's instances like this why I will always support a death penalty, no matter how "civilized' we think we are as a society.

I'm ethically against the death penalty. However, if anyone were to ever lay a hand on my child, I wouldn't hesitate the throw the switch myself. And people who beat up on little kids deserve to DIAF. How farking pathetic do you have to be to harm a kid?

Oh and sign me up on the Hell-train for laughing at that last sentence in the headline. You're a real asshole, subby!

TheWhoppah: Killing a child under 6 will get you the death penalty in Texas.

I am not a fan of the death penalty, or Texas. But barring severe mental illness (like you think the kid is a rampaging leopard or something), well, let's just say I could give Texas a pass on that one.

Yeah, I know. I was just talking with my buddies the other day about how the most tedious part of dating a single mom is feeling obligated to beat their children to death. This guy Jeff was like "it's not a big deal. You get over it."

The guy who did this has 2 restraining orders from separate older girlfriends, and has a history of domestic abuse. Lock him up and throw away the key. Better yet put a bullet into the back of his head and be done with him.

Not always. I'm spending the afternoon alone with my stepdaughter's two year old kid. The most danger he faced was when we went to the museum to see dinosaurs.

That boy is the light of my llfe, and vice versa. When I went to pick him up I asked my stepdaughter if she was sure she didn't want him for the day, and she answered, "Nah, its ok. He likes you better than me anyway."

In all seriousness, there should be no reason Adrian can't use this guy as a hitting dummy for a few hours until he feeds him to gen-pop.

The sad thing is, this happens all the time. It just doesn't get as much press because the kids involved don't have famous dads. We can sit here all day & question which of our social ills led to this situation. The truth is, we don't know enough about this guy to speculate what led him to beat a baby. But I hope karma is watching.
