In Episode 3, a bearded man who looks like a lumberjack appears. He says his name is Lex and that he's been traveling by foot from the Pacific Northwest. All he'll say about himself is that he's trying to get to Miami. The group doesn't trust him at first, but as they're interrogating him a group of zombies attacks and he dispatches them with unbelievably efficiency using only a blade. So they invite him to stay with them a while  The next day, he hears a story about Carl shooting a teenaged kid in cold blood who'd been trying to surrender. The next night, Carl disappears.

I've always said that The Walking Dead was how a survival story would go with the worst possible collection of human beings happened to conglomerate into a cohesive group.

Yeah they always seem to be hanging on by a string. But I look at it like this, if it was a group of survivalists that got along and knew their stuff it would probably be boring. It makes me laugh when they talk about starting a farm, digging a well, or sealing up the holes in the wall but never actually do it.

How good is this show, really? I watched maybe two or three episodes, saw the love triangle they were doing, and just kind of sighed and never watched it again. But people keep talking about it, so I assume it got better? Not trying to troll or anything, just wondering.

Sometimes really good, sometimes pretty meh.

A good show to watch if you like yelling at your TV.

LOTS of head injuries, some horrifying or nerve-wracking moments, some interesting questions about civilized behavior. IMHO as good or better than the most of American TV, Justified being the best.

The series sucked it long and hard after episode 2.  I gave it a second chance when the second season began.

If someone released a special cut that reduced the bullshiat, sanitized human drama like 90%, I might be tempted to try it again.

The comic was better.  And by better, I mean enjoyable.  The TV series generally isn't.

I read "let's bullet point this b*tch" and thought, oh, this article will be hackneyed.   Having read the article, I find my interest in season 4 waning even more.

I think it will share a location with Homeland season 3 on my downloaded, never watched, list.

And in true internet tradition, I fully expect to see blog posts popping up complaining about things that they heard or think might happen in the next series long before they ever watch it.

I've been re-watching the old seasons this past week, and it's amazing to discover that Andrea sucked even harder than I remember, and I'm not even at season 3 yet. Seriously, every scene she's in makes me want to punch my screen.

Yep. Once you go back and rewatch with the knowledge that they are never going to do her character justice, you see her for the pain in the ass that she really was.

It failed so hard that only ended up making $539,556,823.   I loved the book and thought the movie was entertaining.  It's really stupid that people can't appreciate something that isn't exactly like the book.  Enjoy them for what they are.

"Possibly the most deadly threat that they've faced thus far. They're still going to be dealing with the zombies, they're still very much a threat. They're still going to be dealing with humans, that's still very much a threat. But there's a new element thrown in, this new unseen force that is going to be extremely dangerous and possibly more dangerous than anything."

That sounds like a great recipe for suck.

The problem with the movie isn't that it's not the book, it's that it appropriated the title, so now we will never get to see a movie version of the book.

It might be the best zombie movie ever made.  I don't care.  I want to see the book told on film, and now that ain't never gonna happen.

That's the biggest problem with the writing of the show....the 'big' deaths have almost all happened to characters that have been written into a corner where the viewers are basically pleading for them to die.  I think the writers thought they were just going to blow people away with the deaths of Lori and Andrea.  Hell, even Shane was intolerable by the end.  Sophia?  I doubt anyone could have even picked her out before she went missing and they dedicated half a season to finding her.  Dale?  Good riddance.

T-Dawg and Axle were the only people I hated to see go.

I didn't mind Dale that much, he was annoying at times, but I liked him overall. Andrea just sucked in every scene. Everything she did, everything she said was pretty much the opposite of what a normal person would've done and said. It's awesome to watch now in retrospect. I don't know if Shane's character was the issue as much as the actor playing him (though yes, he had to go).

I will say it's way better to watch all the episodes back to back rather than waiting a week at a time. It totally changes the monday morning quarterbacking of certain character's actions.

/Rick comes off better this way.

That's not really true.  "I Am Legend" has been made three times now and still haven't got it right.  I'm sure World War Z will be used again many times in the future.  And the book is not something that translates well to being a movie.  An HBO series or something like that is the only way to do it.  And holding a grudge doesn't do anything except you missing out on a really fun movie.

Sure.  That's a good example.  But I Am Legend tellings came in 1964, 1971, and 2007.

Which means we might get around to WWZ on film in 2021 if we're lucky.

I'm only partway thru season three (just became available on streaming Netflix) but in the article I was sad to see one character I like has died off in the end. Now I can't wait to watch the rest of the episodes to see what happens. I'm also happy to see Michonne live to season four. My favorite character.

Yeah, I take that one back.  I think the problem was they spun up his preachiness a little too much near the end, but yeah, overall he was pretty good.  He probably became extraneous once they incorporated Hershell more deeply into the group who in my opinion is probably the best character in the show.

The problem with Dale was his RV.  You find yourself in a world where there are few people, no law, and hoards of monsters that are relentless about chasing you all over hill and *cough* dale *cough* and you roll around in that heap of shiat?  Head on down to the RV dealer, and get yourself a ridiculously blinged out Class-A ride.

That would make sense if you follow the comic books at all.

That said, do they ever get to winter time in this show? That would actually be something that would be hard to deal with.
