RedPhoenix122: Ok, and you shouldn't get paid for failing to pass a budget. Fair enough?
Krieghund: RedPhoenix122: Ok, and you shouldn't get paid for failing to pass a budget. Fair enough? They did pass a budget.
Soup4Bonnie: SK: What would your message be to Congress, if you were able to tell them directly how the shutdown has affected your life?ML: I want to tell them that lives are at stake. This isn't just a matter of inconvenience. This is a matter of life or death. I'm not just doing this for myself. There are 200 people that are trying to get into clinical trials each week. I want to speak for all of us.
Sgt Otter: So, that's two of my three monthly sources of income I won't be getting.
Uranus Is Huge!: Frankly, if you're not actively pursuing a plan to cripple the American economy and harm US citizens, then you don't deserve your government paycheck.
DamnYankees: It really does seem like the core of the House GOP is just made up of dumb assholes. There's very little more to it than that.
factoryconnection: The GOP makes it very clear all the time what they think of non-military government employees: they despise them. Every worker, no matter what he or she does, is a "faceless bureaucrat" doing nothing of importance except holding back American greatness.

Nearly every state cancelled their October drill, and will cancel November if it's not resolved soon. It's not just the DSGs (Drill Status Guardsmen, the typical "one weekend a month" guys), but the AGR (Active Guard & Reserve), who work full time for the National Guard. It's a full-time career for them, like being an active duty soldier. They keep the units up and running between weekend drills. A lot of them at my unit got furloughs. The last AGR guy I talked to, they weren't sure if it was going to be paid, partially paid, or not at all.
miss diminutive: The GOP do realize that there's going to be elections in the future, right? Do they think they've been appointed for life?
Biff_Steel: I'm going to bet that Netflix can't be too happy being associated with this mess.
Somacandra: Krieghund: RedPhoenix122: Ok, and you shouldn't get paid for failing to pass a budget. Fair enough? They did pass a budget.[i.imgur.com image 452x487]Article 1, Section 7: Bills can only become law if they have been passed in identical form in both houses of Congress. The HoR and the Sen. have each passed different budget bills--it can't become a budget until a conference committee has worked out identical compromise language that is then sent to each house for approval. Only then can the bill be sent to the POTUS for a signature.
Weaver95: The GOP should keep talking...they're just recruiting more and more voters for the democratic party.
impaler: Whoops, wrong thread.
vudukungfu: Keep talking GOP, we'll be quoting you all next year.
fenianfark: Yoho has to be one of the stupidest, if not the stupidest Congressman. He was going on the other day about how a default would stabilize global markets.
HotIgneous Intruder: The Goopers hate Obamacare because it will FREE people to leave shiatty jobs and not worry about losing their health insurance.
Dubya's_Coke_Dealer: Krieghund: RedPhoenix122: Ok, and you shouldn't get paid for failing to pass a budget. Fair enough? They did pass a budget.Used toilet paper is not a budget. They have to pass a budget that will pass the Senate and be signed into law by the President (unless there are enough votes to overrride a presidential veto.) That's what the Constitution says. Not that you care.
