That's nice and all, but you'll still be amongst the first lined up against the wall when the revolution hits.

This was farked from Day 1 and needs more than a little unfarking here and there by the original farker. So fark him.

What an asshole.

While it appreciated that he's finally admitted that the NSA was doing this kind of stuff, it's more than a little suspicious that he never seemed to mind when his party was in power.

I'm also waiting for John Woo to speak out against Barack's spankings of Sasha and Malia.

Reminds me of Cheney criticizing Obama's handling of Iraq.

Author of Patriot Act needs a good patriotic beat down from real patriots.

I never really got it. Why is it only when someone talks about nuking the filibuster do people care about the party holding the majority? I feel like, for every law that gives government anything, the FIRST thing a legislator should do is wonder aloud "How will this be used against my intended purpose?"

-if it's a national security/data gathering type bill: "How could this be used in a Nixonian way, to mine data about opponents or 'undesirables'?"
-if it's a social program: "How will this be used as a cudgel against the poor (like drug-testing welfare recipients)?"
-if it's a new tax or fee, especially a "temporary" one: "How will this be grown into a 'must-have' revenue source?"

Et cetera.

This is your fault, you asshole.

Gosh, it would've been nice if you had a large group of liberals in this country who could've farking warned you that this is exactly what was going to happen. Bet you wouldn't have accused them of hating America or anything.

We're gonna need a long ass wall if all the people who get told they'll go first really are gonna go at the same time.

This is asinine when the patriot act was based people were saying these exact things would happen.

2013-10-11 12:32:12 PM
I thought electing Barak Obama was supposed to prevent things like this from happening.

Thank you, Mister Woo.

Maybe he should have put a little more thought and a little less fear into it, then.

Not sure about, John Woo, but is John Yoo close enough?
http://www.fark.com/comments/7971446/The-author-of-Patriot-Act-says- NS A-has-gone-too-far-Mr-Pot-meet-Mr-Kettle

John Yoo, the George W. Bush-era Justice Department lawyer who penned so-called "Torture memos" authorizing controversial interrogation techniques, accused the president Friday of holding a "radical vision of executive power" and usurping the Constitution with his recently enacted policy to stop deporting some young undocumented immigrants.

Shut up John Yoo, yoo cock.

Who wants a ride in the gyro-copter? *warning: the gyro-copter is actually a industrial sized blender and will shred you into goo.

Patriot act = Martial law, but without roving gangs of army men raping and pillaging you. The militarized police are doing that task for them.

It does mean that those who criticize the "Patriot" Act aren't America-hating terrorist-sympathizing Dhimmicrat commie librul traitors anymore.

You know Obama signed the extension of the act, right?  And you know that a huge number of democrats voted for it, right?

So how long will it take to undo everything Bush did?

No, electing him had the possibility of preventing things like  this from happening. As opposed to the other guys, who had loud and clear intentions to continue doing this. Shame it didn't actually happen, but at least this one wasn't because Republicans blocked him. They were in on it too.

Along with 97 other Senators and 357 members of the House who voted for it.

I guess it took Obama signing it to make that happen.  Who woulda thunk it?

Democrats voted overwhelmingly for the Patriot Act when it passed. Barack Obama had two years of a Democratic Presidency and large Senate and House majorities to undo it. He didn't, therefore he and they get to own it alongside George W. and the Pubbies.

I'm sure it has something to do with nuance.

If only someone could have predicted that, once given this sort of power, it'd be hard as fark to get the government to give it up. People who, perhaps, said that at the time, only to be called terrorist sympathizers, traitors, and every other name in the book.

/This kind of shiat is what happens when you have a conservative party and an ultra-conservative party, with no real liberal representation in government.

It's almost as if many Democrats were actually Conservatives, and the rest weren't really Liberal. Crazy, huh?

So he is writing "The Freedom Act" to stop a democratic president from using it to do warrentless wire taps.

Likely with write "The Liberty Act" which will counter "The freedom Act" when a republican is president and wants to take away american's feedom in the name of combating an abstract noun called "Terrorism"

Then when the Republican loses after one term, he will write "The loyalist act" to counter the "Liberty Act" which was used to stop the warrentless wiretaps allowed by the Patriot act.

DERPY DERPY DOOO!
