So, either a pre-nup or the wife has a really inept lawyer.

Wow. Thats a lot of money even for Manhattan and CT.

Not surprising the wife is going to get very little in the divorce. She probably likes losing. She HAS to be a masochist. She married Scarborough...

If you host a multi-hour, national news show five days per week and can get reasonably well-known celebs and politicians to join you, then you will get paid $99k per week pretty much every time.

That seems like one of the fairer divorces I've heard of.

According to the docs, Joe will fork over $30,000 per month for 5 years, then $25,000 per month for 2 years. Joe also gave her a lump sum of $150k, and he's paying the mortgage on their Connecticut home, and for the kids' schooling.

Oh God!. They are are going to starve to death.

The Stealth Hippopotamus: He makes that much and can't beat CNN in the ratings?!

Overall ratings are completely irrelevant to Morning Joe. It is THE morning show for the political class here in DC, and probably gets a fair showing among a lot of business and media people as well. The types of people who watch it mean a whole lot more to advertisers than the number of people who watch it.

Also, TV personalities get paid a lot of money. $100k a week puts him around $5 million, which is pretty normal for that kind of role. Bill O'Reilly makes $20 million a year. This is news?

And then it gets weird.  They are still going to live together.  Why divorce?  Why not just have "an arrangement"?

It's frightening just how large the amounts of money are that are being thrown around in what passes for the "news" business these days.  Though it does explain why these idiots are willing to bend and spin stories to the whims of their corporate masters.

This can't possibly be true, can it?  Hopefully just because Mika's kinda hot?

Seriously, between Drudge being 'the first site everyone goes to at the beginning of the day', and this little nugget, it's no wonder our elites are so completely underwhelming in their guidance and wisdom.

According to my calculations that is well under 3 million.  As a guy who makes 5 million a year, that is a great settlement for him.  If I was him I would just lump sum it.  Here's 2.75 million, be gone!

I guarantee she blows through that quick as I'm sure she is accustomed to being able to do whatever she wants, whenever she wants.  3 million will allow you to retire well, but not wealthy well.

Scorpitron is reduced to a thin red paste: This can't possibly be true, can it?  Hopefully just because Mika's kinda hot?

It's mainly because the focus is on politics, not sitting outside with a crowd and throwing softballs at some teenybopper. It's made for political wonks, not the your average guy off the street from Tulsa. They have a lot of various influential news, opinion, and political types cycling in and out day to day and week to week, and Joe Scarborough, as a moderate Republican, is a safe host who disagrees with everybody watching on at least something, so it attracts viewers from every point on the ideological spread. There's plenty of insider gossip as well. Useless to the rest of the word, but to the inside the beltway set, valuable insights about the dynamics of any given political situation, person or group.

Politico playbook is the same type of thing- not a very large audience, not many outside of DC even know what it is- but Mike Allen probably has 90% penetration on the Hill and in the White House. And with everybody in DC whose job it is to try and influence the White House and/or Congress.

It's a pretty good show for a more in depth analysis of current politics. Unless Nicole Wallace is on.

Seriously, how does she keep getting work?

He could've paid that other ass-clown, Glenn Beck, to murder her in the face for way less than that.
Glenn Beck's a savage when he's coked up, I've seen him literally tear people apart, shredding them limb from limb as he sprays and froths indignantly about not being paranoid or whatever the hell is on his mind. He's such a gent with the ladies though, a real double-threat in fact - a mad murderer on the one hand but a bow-tied dapper dandy on the other.
Yeah, word is he'd murder anything for a three-quarter million.

What does she pay for? If she puts $25k a month in the bank (for 5 years), then $20K a month (for 2 years), she will be just fine.

You have to understand, these poor people become accustomed to certain lifestyles, and it's just not fair to take it away from them.

Yeah, but talking head show people don't get residuals, because it's not like Morning Joe is going into syndication. So they grab what they can while they can.

I'd have my student debt gone in entirety in two months. After that, everything goes into saving. After a year I'd start looking at investing. The lump sum, I'd split between my parents and brother.

Also, when Joe and Susan are both in the Conn. home there are some house rules: Neither can enter the others bedroom, barring a kid related emergency ... and after 7 PM they're each banned from the others side of the house.

Now I'm imagining Joe Scarborough with a measuring tape going thorough out his entire house and painting dividing lines in every room like some bad 70s sitcom premise.

Confirming once again my long held opinion that Joe is a unmitigated dunderhead.

Mika is cool, though.
