1970's - Silly novelty pop hit for Ray Stevens and an equally silly fad.

2010's - "WE'LL RUIN YOUR LIFE!"

And so they did.

Progress.

Campbell added that that the incident was not just a prank and needed to be treated seriously.

No, it really is pretty much just a prank, dude.

OK, I hereby decree that all humans in the Holy Godly State of Alabama should have their junk carefully removed and cryogenically stored, to be used only for procreative purposes after lengthy psychological screening prior to each act of procreative activity.

I mean, since junk is so satanic and hideous and illegal and sh*t.

Sparkman High administrators even recommended that Adamek face a hearing in the Madison County court system to determine if formal charges would be filed, WHNT reported.

WTF does this mean? The high school "recommended" he go to court to see if he should have to go to court? recommended to who?

This doesn't make any sense.

Ummm... it was the liberals in California who started the sex offender registry BS in the US. It went federal in 1994, under the liberal Democrats and Bill Clinton, as part of the assault weapons ban.

If this story is spot on, it makes me so angry that I .. oh fark it. These people are not worth it. It was a prank, nothing more. Just some stupid fun. In the past surely he would have been told off, told not to do it again and write 100 lines.
End of. Now?  Fark me I am livid. Nudity is not bad. No one will be damaged from seeing him. If it happened at every single match in every single town, pretty soon people would bore of it. How can being naked be offensive. Those who interpret the will of the sky wizard have a lot to answer for. Fark the lot of them.

2013-10-11 07:27:04 AM
Is there a greater crime than nudity?

If there is, I can't think of one right now.

2013-10-11 07:38:24 AM
We had streakers at football games back in the 70s.
No body's life was ruined.
We all laughed and had a good time.

WTF happened to this country?

2013-10-11 08:26:10 AM
Newsflash: Fifteen year old boys sometimes do stupid shiat like streak at football games. This is not a predictor of future rapeyness.  Film at eleven.

2013-10-11 09:36:14 AM
Streaking has gone from a relatively harmless and occasionally amusing prank to a serious crime.  FTA::"Campbell added that that the incident was not just a prank and needed to be treated seriously."  Well, I think the kid treated it seriously.  Well done administration.   You've done an excellent job putting fear into anyone that would consider doing this heinous crime again,  Farking assholes. DIAF Mr. Campbell along with the rest of your self-righteous asshole administration.

Hell, at our homecoming game (and parade) we had guys that mooned the opposing team's stands one football season.  Yes, they were suspended, but nobody was talking about citing them for indecent exposure and sex crimes.

This.

When did nudity become the ultimate act of evil in this country?

Public nudity should be mandatory. That would solve everything.

15 year old doing something many grown ass men have done, needs to be super serially treated.

What the actual fark happened to our youth and shenanigans.

Zero tolerance. It's not just a bad idea; it's a bad law.

Rage growing... Aren't these these admins/distric officials part of the "Flower Power" generation?  WTF happened to them?

cman: 15 years old: not old enough for others to fark but old enough to get put on sexual registration lists

This is spot on.  If the person is not old enough to consent, then how the HELL do we treat them as old enough to be put on a sex offender registry.

2013-10-11 10:11:27 AM
This is how sad society has become, kid had no idea what the consequences were - now society killed him.

hell I brought a paintball marker on school campus and the resource officer who had some brains realized it was disassemed in a box and had no CO2 - she told me to park my car across the street and that was it.
Today they would of charged me blah blah expelled etc.

2013-10-11 10:11:29 AM
Worse than this- peeing behind the bar where no one can see you and getting on the sex offender's list because of it.

2013-10-11 10:12:32 AM
So he was...

*glasses*

Well hung?

2013-10-11 10:14:32 AM
Seriously, a sex offender registry has the aim of keeping dangerous criminals in the public spotlight.  You don't help to single out the dangerous trees if the entire forest is on the list.  Is the creep moving in next door on the list because he took a leak behind a billboard or because he raped a nun?

2013-10-11 10:15:10 AM

rudemix: So he was...

Actually, no; he died of his injuries two days later. If he'd been well hung, they would have found him dead.

Thanks for ruining lives, you heartless, paranoid farks.

did the school administration review video evidence of the event to prove it was him?  Good.  Have them charged with possession of child pornography

I guess this means that

His streak is over...

Kid must have had some serious problems besides this to go as far as killing himself.  The school leaders and school district must feel so guilty for their over-reaction.  Wouldn't be surprised to see a lawsuit come out of this eventually.  Stupid prank, but not worth killing yourself over.  It would have blown over in time and although he was chastised by adults, he was a legend with his peers.  No judge would have put him on a sex crimes registry at 15 years old over this, that was just a threat to keep copy-cats at bay.  There has to be more to this story...

2013-10-11 10:18:01 AM
Ruining a kid's life (or in this case ending it) because of a silly registry is far, far worse than seeing a peener.

I'll hazard a guess that anyone over the age of 25 has a similar story.  I was in the honor society, a two-sport varsity athlete, and went on to an Ivy League... I can think of a half dozen things that I did in HS that, when viewed in current "zero tolerance" light would have gotten me expelled, and likely ruined my future prospects, and yet, somehow, I didn't end up a blight on society... Go figure!

Honestly? We gave everyone a vote.

Didn't you ever read that story in school where the mother is cooking soup and every family member tells her "I don't like X. Don't put X in the soup." and in the end she just serves them all hot water?

Can't they take "intent" into consideration anymore? Was there any malice or perversion involved? Sure, he was being an idiot but he was also 15. Shiat, if I had the balls, no pun intended, I'd probably do something like that at that age. So he's put on the same list as a 50 year old who takes his dick out at a preschool. I hope whoever is responsible for treating this kid as a terrorist has to live with that the rest of his or her life.

From Reddit:

"
I knew this boy personally. I have known the family for several years, and go to school with him. I also know his sister very well. I have heard what happened from what the family told me. I was at the hospital with him, when he died. I have heard so many wrong versions of this story. So here is what happened.
On september 27th, we had a home football game versus a pretty big team. Shortly after half-time, he ran out of the bathroom by the concession stand and onto the field. This was about a 25 yard run. Once on the field, nobody knew what to do. He had a ski mask on, and a tube sock covering his junk. He had some illegible writing on his butt(we would later find out that he had someone jokingly write on his butt asking someone to homecoming). After he ran the distance of the field, he jumped a 4 foot chain link fence, followed shortly there after by an 8 foot tall chain link fence. After he had done all that running, he got winded and was worried he might pass out, so he sat down in the woods where he was found by police. He was promptly reclothed and was put in a cop car. I was with his sister when she saw him put in a cop car. He spent a few hours at the police station before he was picked up by his father. The following monday they had a meeting with our head principal and two assistant principals(we have a total of 5 assistant principals). It is not up to the principals to make the decision of expulsion, only the school board can do that. At said meeting though, one certain principal threw out a lot of scare tactics. She called him a terrorist, and a sex offender and everything else under the sun. After the meeting on monday, they were to reconvene on wednesday to further the discussion. He was never facing any sort of legal troubles at all, and I want to make that clear. All this talk of legal trouble, was from scare tactics. After the meeting on wednesday, they were leaning towards expulsion. After the meeting, he and his dad had a big fight. After which his dad went out side for 20 minutes to cool down and collect his thoughts. He left his son asleep on the couch, and when he came back, he wasn't there. He finally found him hanging in the garage. He called the ambulance as soon as he saw it. He had been hanging for awhile at this point. The ambulance took him to a hospital where they got a pulse on him and got him breathing. All of this was done medically, and was due to medicine. They soon sent him to another hospital that had the right staff and equipment to treat him. After two brain scans, it was decided that there was no activity and the family decided to stop all medicine and take him off the respirator. I was with them the entire time at the hospital up until they took him off of it. They say that while his body left the house, he as a person, a soul, never left the house. He died on october 3rd, and was buried october 7th. I know this might get downvoted, and I apologize for any errors or wrongdoings by posting this. This is my Boobies, and I felt this just needed to be said. So much is being said that is wrong and I just want the truth at there. If you have any questions, pm me."

Reminds of that cases in Penn where the kids "sexting" were both charged as adults for distributing child pron... of themselves... charged as adults..

/I do think Penn fixed that problem recently at least

Kids kill themselves over a lot less than the threat of being put on a permanent 'Your Life if Over' registry. And yes, kids younger than that have been put on the registry by judges who probably thought they were going to send a message. The age of 'this will blow over' has blown over.

I take it from your mocking tone that you have no idea what being put on a sex offender registry would do to this kid. It would quite literally have wrecked his life. Forget college or holding down a decent job, this kid would have been lucky not to end up living under a bridge somewhere. But go ahead an blame him, I am sure that makes you feel better. Just try to imagine if it was someone you knew. Would you still blame him? Or would you show a little empathy?

When we're all criminals, no one will be....

Seriously, almost anything can be interpreted as a crime now. And with people doing anything they can to punish these new 'criminals', society is heading toward a collapse where no one can find a job because they have a record. Then people will turn to more crime because they have no prospects and no hope.

2013-10-11 10:23:36 AM

DrPainMD: It went federal in 1994

Well, no.
The 1994 law simply required states to create their own. It wasn't until SORNA under Bush that there was a federal registry.

Sounds like the "no one can see you" part wasn't entirely accurate.

I live very close to Huntsville.  Sadly, this is one of the more sane things the nutjobs around here do, and I am speaking about sending the kid to court over streaking.

I can't fault the child.  Being on the sex offender registry around here means that the only date you will ever get is a cousin of yours.  His life was over.  Given that his life was over before it began, I can't blame him for not waiting until the grisly end of a terrible life.

Sorry to see you go, kid, had you been born elsewhere in the US you'd have had a long and happy life occasionally telling the story of the time you streaked and then continuing to be a perfectly normal person.

Harsh punishments that cause more harm than good get votes for lazy politicians from stupid people.

Things will continue to get worse because politicians are basically selfish dishonest assholes.

I have no doubt that there are many judges who would put this kid on the sex offender registry. They might not even have a choice. That's what happens when every elected official, from the president to your local judge, is terrified of being labeled soft on crime. We reap what we have sown. Imagine how it will be in ten years, their will probably be jails built right into the schools.

2013-10-11 10:27:44 AM
Too bad that a good thing like the Sex Offender Registry has been misused from its original intention and is now wielded like a blunt instrument against anyone. That the school administrators were pretty much fine in using it as a threat against a teen to possibly ruin the rest of his not even reached adulthood is sad.

If this is true, this certain principal is going to be in for a world of pain once this hits the courts. Doubly so if there were living witnesses to this willing to testify. Not sure what he'd be charged with, or civilly charged with, but a jury most likely is going to be looking for blood if that gets out.

Not really. When I got my house I looked up where the sex offenders were (I was looking for a hook up I KEED, I KEED).

They list the people who are on the list but they don't say what they did. No, that kid's life was ruined. He had no chance of getting an actual job. I'm not saying he should have killed himself but I understand it.
