I hate jobs that make me provide a doctors note for all sick time. I get they want their little slaves to be chained to their work, but sometimes people need a "fark this shiat" day to spontaneously go golfing, hiking, fishing, or whatever. Considering Americans get farking SCREWED when it comes to vacation leave as it is compared to other 1st world countries I think a day here and there is completely justified. As long as I have the vacation time, am caught up on work, and make sure there is coverage in the office why the fark do you care if I blow off a day to attend to my mental health?

My mom gave my sister and I "mental health" days off of school. We got 4 a school year. The rules were it couldn't be on a test day or due date for any project. Also we were to let her know the day ahead of time so she could either arrange to stay home (when we were younger) or gather day off supplies (soda, pizza, movies, video games, etc.). Both my sister and I got straight A's throughout school.

I truly believe random days off make a person more productive and to hate their job/school less.

A friend had the coolest mom ever... One beautiful spring day said friend wistfully mentioned how it was far too nice a day to spend in school, so her mom wrote her the following note:

"To whom it may concern:

Michelle was unable to attend school yesterday as she was exhibiting symptoms of bucolic."

The school accepted the note without comment.

It's a "Christian" school and it has a headmaster. Not quite the same thing as P.S. No. 14 deciding to let its 1,500 urchins stay home for the day.
