Clearly 5% of respondents thought the pollster was asking about  sexual congress.

I liked their guide to the debt ceiling "debate":

What happens if the government defaults on its debt?
The United States will lose the credibility and respect we incorrectly assume other nations still hold toward us.

2013-10-10 05:41:37 PM
And they're frightened out of their gourds by the 28% who approve of the GOP.

2013-10-10 05:54:08 PM
Shrinks will have plenty of customers if they start seeing Obama supporters.

The Onion may be joking but once again they hit the nail on the head. If you think congress is doing a good job then you are either ignorant of reality, extremely stupid, or lying. For most people I assume its the extreme stupidity though.

I dont question my sanity, I know Im nucking futts.

2013-10-10 06:00:10 PM
Or that 37% still believing in hope and change.

2013-10-10 06:00:24 PM
The 5% will shrink to the 1% where it will stay.

2013-10-10 06:01:24 PM
They should be more concerned with the 95% who think congress is doing a bad job, and re-elect their representative anyway.

(Okay, most Americans don't vote, but still.)

Most people think that *their* representative is doing a GREAT job.  It's those other assholes who are the problem.

"While Congress remains divided amidst the government shutdown,
Americans are united in their disapproval of the legislating body. Of registered voters polled, 85% disapprove of the job Congress is doing. Only 8% approve- Democrats, Republicans and Independents are almost equally united in their distaste for Congress, with only 7%, 10% and 8% approving respectively. Very conservative voters differed slightly with a support of 15%."

7, 10 and 8 I can't explain. I bet the very conservative would be actually higher if the country defaulted.

Hell, I AM a psychiatrist, who helps run a "current events" group in our day hospital program for people with severe mental illness... and even THEY recognize who is at fault for the shutdown.

That 5% is probably Tea Partiers who WANT the government shut down.

I'm pretty much OK with Congress. They are essentially doing the jobs they were gerrymandered to do. No use blaming the pawns when the whole chessgame is rigged. Idiots elect representative idiots... it's really not too surprising.

This belongs on CNN not The Onion.
I suspect they are paranoid conspiracy theorists who think that their congressman is crazier than Cletus down the street.
They may think their Republican representative is a real threat and may come by and burn their house down.

I would have bet that it was 5% that found a way to profit heavily from the shutdown. Like the ones that wrote all the bad paper then shortstroked it just kinda recently.

You pretty much have to be absolutely retarded to not notice that the major funcion of BOTH parties is to serve the interests of the rich, regardless of thwat they claim to want to do beforehand.

Right now we're getting another self created "crisis" that they can use to announce some last second deal to "fix" the crisis that ust so happens to fark over the middle class and the poor some more.

Kind of like both parties referred to the Bush Tax Cuts expiring finally as scheduled as the FISCAL CLIFF!!!11! Then over the New Year holiday they announced that they had "fixed" that problem by making the tax cuts for the rich permanent, instead of allowing them to expire at all.

Thanks Democrats and Republicans!

Basically 5% of people will automatically say yes or no to any question, no matter how obvious what the "correct" answer will be; ask 100 people are you a zombie who eats human flesh regularly and 5 will say yes just to say yes.  The reason is simple, some people are just morons.

I'd be more concerned by the fact that 37% of the people think Obama is doing a good job.

You should be really concerned then, because the actual number is 43%... The same approval rate as Democrats in general; while Republicans are at their lowest approval rate ever of 28%...

Basically, over half the country hates both parties... But, one of them is rightfully hated far more than the other...
