(Postal News)   That model of efficiency, the US Postal Service, has to destroy an entire printing of "Let's Move" stamps after someone noticed the sports depictions were "dangerous" Skateboarding without kneepads, and doing a headstand without a helmet? Really?   (postalnews.com) divider line 91

I cannot find a single source for this that does not refer back to "Linn's Stamp News," which requires me to provide an email address to read TFA. Which I'm not giving. So, while I'm not saying this is untrue, I'm saying...I'd like to see it come from someplace else first.

it didn't ask me.  Did I do something wrong?  Here's the article:

Linn's Stamp News reports that the US Postal Service will destroy the entire press run of a stamp series aimed at getting children to be more active. According to Linn's reporter Bill McAllister, three of the stamps in the fifteen stamp series raised safety concerns among sports figures on the President's Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition. The stamps in question depicted children performing a cannonball dive, skateboarding without kneepads, and doing a headstand without a helmet. The unsafe depictions came to light after USPS Marketing chief Nagisa Manabe asked Michelle Obama to take part in a first day ceremony for the stamps. That was apparently the first time the stamps had been reviewed by the Sports Council.

Ooh, all fifteen stamps.  The kid standing on one foot on a rock is totally going in my dead pool.

The USPS doesn't have to be efficient, it's carrying out a Congressionally mandated action of delivering mail to every corner of this continent, plus to Alaska and Hawaii. Plus, they would be in much better shape if they weren't forced to prefund their pensions. Imagine if the US Army had to do that?

Judging from that picture, the skateboarder could very well have kneepads under his oversized jeans.  I used to know a lot of skaters who wore things like that, which I thought was the reason for the freakishly huge pants.

I think it's because she performs a lot of demeaning and modestly remunerative fellatio....

Apparently subby's mom is quite a whore.

I'm surprised you haven't seen it mentioned before now...

That model of efficiency, the US Postal Service

Hey subby, words of advice.   It is

Find me a private corporation that will deliver a letter to every single podunk town in the US in a few days for less than 50 cents, six days a week with a virtually zero percent loss rate.  Hint: before you say FedEx, they use the USPS for something like 30% of their total deliveries because they don't deliver everywhere.

The only reason they're losing money is because the idiots in Congress demand it- no private corporation is forced to fund their pension fund far, far in advance.

Same organization that raised the price of postage by a penny or two then sold penny stamps that actually cost more to print, distribute and re-engineer postage readers.

and doing a headstand without a helmet.

You need a helmet to safely do a headstand!?

2013-10-10 02:29:48 PM
Could someone show me one picture of an actual human being putting on a helmet before doing a headstand?  Just one?  And not a human who regularly wears a helmet because they always run into things.

I mean, I could see some disability fanatic freaking the fark out because the stamps show people doing shiat that disabled people can't do.  But I really can't believe they'd kill off an entire run of stamps simply because a skateboarder didn't have kneepads.  I mean, if you're going to get absolutely moronic about it, the chick "reach"ing is standing barefoot on a rock -- isn't that dangerous?  And the one playing baseball sure as hell doesn't have a batter's helmet or a shinguard on.  And the one playing basketball isn't obviously black.  If you're gonna pick nits, you might as well pick ALL of 'em.
