Meanwhile, Clooney has denied writing a key scene in Gravity....

I found way too much amusement in that random caveat to end that article.

*Hundreds of words pondering existential stuff*..."also, Sandra Bullock reportedly a tuna sandwich on the fourth day of shooting, according to Alfonso Cuaron."

BTW, a NSFW ad on the Guardian's page -- some guy taking nude pics of his mom for art. Adds to the crazy of the article I guess.

Also, Gravity doesn't interest me. Feels like they're stretching a 5-to-10 minute situation in a space action movie.

Feels to me like they're stretching a short situation into a big old Oscar bait of a movie. That Captain Phillips one is probably the other top contender for some trophies, but I think Rush will pick some up as well. Great movie. I'm surprised it doesn't have more buzz.

ironically, i thought the movie was about the opposite. there is no god, you are all alone and can only count on yourself

Nothing proves the existence of a god other than the existence of that god.
There are no 'signs', it's binary. If such a thing as a god exists then it needs to show itself.
We don't say bacon exists because we 'just know' or because we saw an image of bacon on a bagel, or because it's mentioned in a 3000 year old book.
Bacon exists because we can reach out and grab it, until gods are equally tangible then I'm convinced that gods are quite simply imaginary friends for deluded adults with low IQs.

I"m too lazy to click the link, so I'm taking the headline as accurate.

I'll just say that the fact that Sandra Bullock was married to Jessie James is proof god doesn't exist.

The thing that always got me about CAPAlert is that he goes in and reviews rated R movies. As in, movies that are already obviously not for children. But he goes in and reviews them and gets all righteously indignant. He just wants to be pissed off, and he wants to watch rated R movies without getting into trouble with his God.

Sandra Buttocks is a terrible actress........... The preview for this movie reeks suckiness and I'd rather sit through Cloudy With Meatballs2 for a second excruciating time than watch Gravity make a joke of what really happens on the ISS and at Nasa's JPL.

In fairness, we only know Black Holes exist because (a) we mathematically demonstrated the possibility and (b) we see the gravitic effects on observations of space.  We haven't actually seen one.  So a god could prove his existence through his effect on the universe - hypothetically.

Why does god hate amputees anyway?

**********************  SPOILER ALERT **********************

was anyone else secretly hoping that when Clooney opens the air lock Sandra Bullock's head is destroyed by escaping shrapnel like the astronaut from earlier in the film?  I was hoping then that Clooney would be the only survivor, which would have been hilarious and awesome way to destroy the "main" character

another thing I wanted was to have the chinese escape pod get blown out into space when the station was destroyed proving that you really are that screwed up in space when something wrong happens.

I don't know how smart he is, but he is correct.

In the history of man there has been ZERO evidence that a "god" of any kind exists.  there have been no miracles.  No one has risen from the dead.  No one has been miraculously healed.  No angels or demons have appeared.  The entire plotline is bunk.

The imdb trivia facts for this film are a good read. Bullock and cuaron were intense in preparation.

I haven't watched Gravity yet, but finished Europa Report the other night - it seemed much more believable as far as problems faced in a science exploration type film. Sadly for Xtians there is no Kum-by-ah message for a god(s) existence...
