Well, what does she expect?  Plebes shouldn't get all uppity with their betters.  She should feel lucky that she is allowed to work for a job creator at all.

2013-10-10 08:54:44 AM
She was arrested for tresspassing, not confronting the CEO.

She could have tried to make a connections on Linkedin.

2013-10-10 08:56:13 AM
"It's really hard for me to feed my two kids and struggle day to day," she shouted as Stratton was speaking. "Do you think this is fair, that I have to be making $8.25 when I've worked for McDonald's for ten years?"

"I've been there for forty years," Stratton replied from the podium.

Way to miss the point, you douchebag.

Has she tried spending her paychecks on shoes instead of crack?

I thought "getting a job at McDonalds" was the solution to poverty. Have I been misinformed?

Seriously though.. 10 years and only making $8.25?? McDonalds can go fark themselves. The food is bad enough, but this is a perfect example of wage slavery

I'll bet she has a refrigerator, though.

I understand her being arrested.  The president could have been less of a douche though.

$8.25 after working there for 10 years and you finally realized you don't make squat.

Don't blame someone else for poor decisions.

Well, obviously he meant that he had been there for four times as long and he is making $33 an hour.

Seems fair.

Good for her... but you do kind of have to be expected to be arrested or "asked" to leave if you interrupt a speaker while they are speaking if the speech is being given in a private place.

If you work at McDonalds for TEN YEARS, and then decide to have 2 kids, you probably need to re-evaluate your life.

1. Shoes can be bought for 8 bucks.
2. 2 kids, where is daddy?
3. She is fat. Starving people don't get fat.
4. I wonder what her income is from welfare

What poor decisions are those? Being born into a society without enough quality jobs for all of its citizens? Being born into a society that believes it's perfectly reasonable to pay people wages well below what they need to survive?

Get bent.

That's not how the First Amendment works. Heckling a private meeting isn't peaceably assembling to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

/She's right, though; the minimum wage should be at least $10 an hour. Probably more like $15.
//Unionized fast-food workers might could do something about it, at least in states that still have labor laws.

You are half right , getting a job at McDonalds is a solution to poverty, however the "was the solution" is also correct due to the fact it will assist heavily in keeping you in poverty !

So the employees are to work their hardest for the benefit of the employer, who in turn owes them as little as he can possibly pay and not break the law.

Got it.

So, ten years later, you're still doing the most basic of entry level work and haven't decided to apply yourself to something better, and that's the fault of the CEO? Does she understand how a franchise works? Or that the job isn't designed for you to live your entire life plus support others on, but to be a starting point to move forward? No of course not, it's that greedy CEO's fault.

I completely disagree, and, in fact, until relatively recently in human history most people would have agreed that employers had a responsibility to provide at least enough for their employees to meet their basic needs (food, housing, a family, etc.).

Corporations' success in convincing much of the American public that they have no responsibility to anyone but their shareholders (despite the fact that they receive tons of legal benefits from "the people" by being allowed to incorporate at all) is one of their greatest (and most damaging) achievements. It means they can shiat on workers until the cows come home (and abuse society in all sorts of other ways) and many of the people being shat on believe that it is all perfectly fine.

/As an aside, many modern corporations have also managed to pull the neat trick of ALSO screwing over their shareholders to benefit their management, but that's another issue.

2013-10-10 09:07:34 AM
they should form a union, that's the only way they will really be able to raise wages. That lady has a lot of balls but after this little bit of publicity that's it, it's not really going to help anything.

Exactly. What do those poors think, that they deserve to reproduce? Why the hell don't we just sterilize them and take their kids from them RIGHT NOW? Probably better neuter their kids too. And what do think they're doing, wearing shoes anyway?

Do y'all not understand that some people don't have the capability to make it past fast-food employee? My neighbor is developmentally disabled. She's 38, and has worked at one chain or another since she was about 20 or so. I wouldn't think she makes much more than minimum wage, and unless fast food chains all of a sudden decide they want to pay a living wage (or someone makes them do it), that's all she'll ever make.

A liberal think tank should send people in to work and organize a union actually, spend a few million bucks subsidizing their wages to work at McDonalds across the country and get one going.

Right, because reproduction should be reserved for wealthier people. If your full-time job doesn't pay well enough, and you can't find a better-employed man to marry, well then that's the gods' way of forbidding you from having children.

4. IF she were working full-time at $8.25 per week, she'd be making about $16,500 for a 50-week year. If she had super-cheap rent ($400/month) and figuring $600/month child expenses, she'd qualify for $486/month in food stamps. She'd make three times too much money to get TANF (welfare). So, yeah, just rolling in them government money checks, the lucky ducky.

You should expect to be told to GTFO if you start yelling at the speaker on stage. Arresting someone for yelling a couple of sentences is way out of proportion unless they start damaging property, attacking people or refuse to leave when asked.

2013-10-10 09:10:30 AM
The good news is McDonald's will have to deal with this stuff a while. If some other fast food chain is smart, they'll hire her at a raise for the publicity. Except they're all just as bad.

The bad is I know a bunch of people who claim minimum wage is a "high school age" and double down on that, saying only kids work at McDonald's.

Random Anonymous Blackmail: Don't blame someone else for poor decisions.

I guess she's really regretting turning down that $30 an hour job a while back, eh?

Maybe not, but being arrested for "trespassing" because you speak up to the President of your company is overdoing it. She could have been asked to leave or escorted from the room, but being charged is just stupid. That just makes the company look even more like they don't give a shiat about their employees.

2013-10-10 09:12:30 AM
Apparently, nobody had a problem with her being there until she had the audacity to ask McDonald's USA Douchebag-in-Chief Jeff Stratton a perfectly reasonable question. After THAT though, she was suddenly "trespassing."
