"The Democrats wont negotiate with us!"

"We'll sit down to negotiate on anything you want, let's just reopen the government, at your funding levels, I might add, until we can come to an agreement."

"Without us getting anything first? I don't think so, that's unconditional surrender!"

"Dear lord, okay, fine, for the sake of argument, other than Obamacare, which is a deal-breaker, what would you want?"

"Uh, we hadn't gotten that far yet."

This is going swimmingly well.

They want to fight any outgroup.  Non-repubican, non-american, non-christian, or non-capitalist. They won't specifically say racial outgroups, but they seem to mean that one too.

Sounds exactly the same as the stupid 40+ votes the house made to repeal ACA.  Are you sure you want to play this game subby?  If it is stupid when the republicans do it, it is still stupid when the democrats do it.

How about she continually, constantly bring forth this motion - and when that number finally hits the number of times they've held a vote to repeal the ACA, then we stop and just toss in the burlap sacks full of rabid squirrels hopped up on a mixture of meth and viagra.

There is literally no deal that the teabaggers will accept, so the plan is to simply never make one. They get nothing, but Obama does as well. This is winning to them.

Trying to come up with a consensus budget resolution that would help the two chambers' Appropriation Committees do their jobs is the same thing as trying to repeal a law that both chambers previously approved, the President signed, the Supreme Court ruled was constitutional, and the nation's citizens tacitly approved by voting the President into a second term? The difference, and I think it's a crucial difference, is that the Democrats in the Senate have said in no uncertain terms that repealing Obamacare is DOA in the Senate, but the House Republicans do it anyway, whereas asking the Republicans to sit down and negotiate is what the REPUBLICANS have been saying THEY want, and the Democrats won't give them.

The ACA is a Republican health care plan.  It was floated by Republicans in the 90s, and even signed into law by Mitt Romney later on in MA.  And Obama dropped the public option and agreed to push back the date that much of the ACA's provisions went into effect as a compromise with the GOP.

False equivalency is false.   The GOP does nothing but claim they want to "negotiate", but then deny formal negotiations 20 different times.   Democrats make no bones about the fact that they will not allow ACA to be repealed, yet the GOP continues to conduct pure pageantry.

The current crop of crazy is that not lifting the debt ceiling will not result in a default.
Because the government takes in enough in taxes to pay the interest on it's loans, but lenders don't mind handing a note over to someone who cheerfully admits to not even wanting to pay all their bills.

Here's the problem with your assertion that the repeated budget conference gambit is exactly like the repeal/defund/delay ObamaCare gambit. The last time Congress agreed upon a consensus budget was for FY10, on July 22, 2009. For FY11, FY12, and FY13, the Senate did not pass a budget resolution, and the Republicans in Congress constantly hammered on the Democrats for violating the regular order of the budget process as originally laid out in the Congressional Budget Act of 1974. Well, for FY14, the Senate DID pass a budget resolution, and the step in the regular order after both chambers pass a budget resolution is to go to conference committee and develop a consensus budget resolution that will pass both chambers. Blocking regular order for six months after spending three years crowing about how Congress must follow regular order is so hypocritical that Webster's is planning on putting this in their next edition of the dictionary as an example of hypocrisy!

The difference here is that the Senate is requesting the House to go to conference where they negotiate a budget between the two.  This is a function that is an essential component of the job.  Which as you've pointed out is pointless because the GOP led House will continue to reject going to conference and doing their job and settling on a budget instead of the repeated CR's just to keep basic functions operating.  Which is why we're here after all.  This kind of request is substantially different from the House repeatedly trying to repeal a law that passed the legislative process, the President's desk, and the Supreme Court, for show, when they know it can't pass and is not an essential component of their job.

False equivalency?  Surely you don't know what that means.  One party is repeatedly suggesting something not once not twice, but many many many many many many times, when they know before hand that it is not going to go anywhere because they somehow think that this is manking some sotr of point. Now am I describing the vote to repeal ACA or the move to go to qa consensus comittee?  The merits of the motions are irrelevant. They are both doing the same thing over and over wasting everybody's time when they know the result before hand.

Just because you agree with a stupid action when your team does it does not mean it isn't stupid.

Hmm, I said both sides are bad, you say? Or did I say don't try to out stupid stupid?

If one side does something embarassingly stupid like taking 40 meaningless votes, you are entirely correct in pointing out how stupid their actions are.

You don't however, do something just as pointlessly stupid half as many times and turn around and claim to be twice as smart.  Even if the math does work out that way.

Instead of being a moron, you should say "hey lets go to comittee."  When they say no, then you point out that that was their last position and ask if they are sure.  Then when they claim you won't negotiate, you reply that that is what we will do in the comittee.

If you try to out stupid these guys, you are going to lose badly.  Actually we are all going to lose badly.
