I don't know what the reference is either but I bet it has something to do with cheap hotel room dressers, rabid raccoons and maybe Daryl Strawberry for that extra weirdness.

It's from the song Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles, which I dubbed over  this video I shot, btw. ;)

I should add that I am not saying this song is from American TV.

It's a Beatles song, but I'd never heard of it.

I did. From the link I posted, someone in the thread said it was a Beatles song, but I have to admit that I'd never heard of it.
And the racoons in your link were cute little things.

Pity they had rabies and had to be destroyed.

Haha. As far as I know, the raccoons in my video lived happily ever after to steal people's garbage and destroy their roofs... and their baby strollers.

Here y'all go...

Sing along....

Now somewhere in the black mountain hills of Dakota
There lived a young boy named Rocky Raccoon
And one day his woman ran off with another guy
Hit young Rocky in the eye Rocky didn't like that
He said I'm gonna get that boy
So one day he walked into town
Booked himself a room in the local saloon

Rocky Raccoon checked into his room
Only to find Gideon's bible
Rocky had come equipped with a gun
To shoot off the legs of his rival
His rival it seems had broken his dreams
By stealing the girl of his fancy
Her name was Magil and she called herself Lil
But everyone knew her as Nancy
Now she and her man who called himself Dan
Were in the next room at the hoe down
Rocky burst in and grinning a grin
He said Danny boy this is a showdown
But Daniel was hot, he drew first and shot
And Rocky collapsed in the corner, ah

D'da d'da d'da da da da
D'da d'da d'da da da da
D'da d'da d'da da d'da d'da d'da d'da
Do do do do do do

D'do d'do d'do do do do
D'do d'do d'do do do do
D'do d'do d'do do do d'do d'do d'do d'do
Do do do do do do

Now the doctor came in stinking of gin
And proceeded to lie on the table
He said Rocky you met your match
And Rocky said, doc it's only a scratch
And I'll be better I'll be better doc as soon as I am able

And now Rocky Raccoon he fell back in his room
Only to find Gideon's bible
Gideon checked out and he left it no doubt
To help with good Rocky's revival, ah
Oh yeah, yeah

D'do d'do d'do do do do
D'do d'do d'do do do do
D'do d'do d'do do do d'do d'do d'do d'do
Do do do do do do

D'do d'do d'do do do do, come on, Rocky boy
D'do d'do d'do do do do, come on, Rocky boy
D'do d'do d'do do do d'do d'do d'do d'do
The story of Rocky there

Sorry, I meant someone in the thread in the link I posted. After the lyrics, a poster said "Yay, Beatles!".

And I'm glad those racoons lived happily ever after.

As I had already admitted my ignorance of the song--which kind of goes against the Fark rules--I felt I had to throw in some dark humour just to keep my posting privileges.

Lol I saw that too.

Though to be fair, rabies is farking scary. A disease which causes animals to become extremely aggressive, transmitted by saliva, and once you show symptoms the most effective treatment is a bullet to the brain.

Yeah, fark rabies, it is that scary.

FTA:  The raccoon was found at the park's gatehouse along Main Loop Road on Monday, and it tested positive for rabies, health officials said.

Their first clue to have it tested for rabies? It came in through the bathroom window...

Fort Smallwood Park. Named for General Horatio Smallword. Leader of the Smallwood Brigade, aka, Tiny Peeners, formed the tip of many assaults against soft Confederate defenses during the war. Though never in any great battles against well formed and top tier Confederate Armies, the Tiny Peeners did score against smaller, less desirable Confederate forces like the 3rd Tennessee Home Economics Majors and the Alabama Regular AV Division.

After Appomattox, which he was invited there to run the lights, General Smallwood called his tiny band together and told them this: "We may not have gone after and conquered the top tier Confederate pu*** like Grant but, by golly, boys we got us some. We got us some indeed. Let us go forth in to the life of peace and remember that days we tussled with the fine 3rd Arkansas Cavalry and Theater Brigade. Or that wonderful weekend with the soldiers of the 1st Mississippi Junior Hospital Volunteers (Candy Stripers). We should call up on them some day as we did promise that."

to be completely fair, the gideon ministry has GOT to be one of the most sane stable organized religions on the gorram planet!

"no, we don't show up on your door, no, we don't have a newsletter.  no, we don't actually actively condemn some of our best members to the fiery pit...  with or without people who have just heard the word..."

but when you're alone in a hotel room...  read this... it might give you a different perspective...

The first two words in TFA's headline are "Rabid Raccoon." The song's title is "Rocky Raccoon."

I'm pretty sure subby was calling attention to the alliteration similarity.

Well done subs. +1 interwebs for the Beatles reference!

Slack is appreciated but not needed. I truly failed... I worked in radio 10 years, played the song many times, but my brain shorted out and I couldn't make the connection.

I think the reference to Gideon's Bible might have thrown off a few Jethro Tull fans.  Myself included.  In my defense I don't really know the Lyrics to "Rocky Raccoon" by heart, and I haven't heard it in a long time.

/I'm not old, I'm just "well seasoned".
