by the way, WTF was the US doing inside foreign territory? This kind of imperialistic crap has gotten the US in a lot of trouble, but since everything is exceptional about the US, I guess it is ok.

poorcku: Ctrl-Alt-Del: I eagerly await the wingnut talking points that will fill the gaping void in my consciousness that is the explanation of how Obama is to blame for this

It has FOR SURE nothing to do with the raid carried out by the special US forces INSIDE Libyan territory . NOTHING AT ALL! And Obama knew nothing of this, of course he heard it on the news like any mortal.

/cut the crap.

Funny, the man's wife described it quite differently.

Al Libi was returning to his house at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday (12:30 a.m. ET) when a group of at least 10 men in four vehicles surprised him, his wife told CNN. Some of the men were wearing masks, while others weren't, she said. Those men looked like Libyans to her and they spoke Arabic with Libyan accents, she said.
"What I saw were Libyans
. Maybe they had Americans with them, but I didn't see them because there was more than one car. They say there were 10 people involved, but I believe there were more than 10," Rahman said. "I couldn't count them because there were many of them. I can't confirm if they were Americans or not, but what I saw were Libyans. "

Can you say "joint operation"?

Can't imagine why a country trying to restore law and order after the overthrow of a dictator wouldn't want armed AQ operatives with an international arrest warrant running around loose. Believe me, they knew and were happy to be rid of him.

No.

Some men had masks and those looked like Libyans. You know, the way I look German... or Dutch, or French.

Sad excuse...

Thought about that. I think dogs are far less likely to attack the screen.

And spoke Arabic with a Libyan accent.

You're not very good at this.

Yes you are definitely right, how bad of me, because the US intel/ DoD has no resources whatsoever to train own Arabic/Libyan personnel or recruit people. That is is SO FAR OFF... Unheard of, actually

I am not sure who is not got at this.

2013-10-10 04:50:46 AM

cc_rider: I'm talking with some people online who are in Libya and others who have family in Libya, and they are saying this sounds like a coup or attempted coup by militias and/or Islamist opponents of Zeidan. It's not entirely clear which groups may be involved, but if what I am hearing is correct, this thing may have been planned for months and they are just using the al-Libi thing as an excuse. There have been several kidnappings, attempted kidnappings, and assassinations of police, soldiers and politicians in the months leading up to this.

I know, this is Fark, but all snark aside, I hope they don't harm this guy. By all accounts he's supposed to be a decent man.

Yes, it's a strange and mysterious thing that other countries often have their own politics and agendas going on that have nothing to do with America and our peccadilloes. It's odd to think that a group that wants to kidnap their OWN Prime Minister in their OWN country to advance their OWN political aims and possibly overthrow their OWN government might not plan it in advance and use a timetable that has little to nothing to do with anything going on in the US except coincidence and possibly taking advantage of Americans' attention being diverted by the mess in our own house to do a little cleaning in theirs.

No no, it's entirely too much to imagine that anything that goes on in the world isn't entirely fomented by US forces, for US interests because god knows we run the world, even if it's for evil purposes. Clearly highly organized groups like, for instance, Ansar al-Sharia, couldn't POSSIBLY have managed this all on their own.

I mean, really. Let's try to be a little less Amerocentric once in a while.

No, really, I can't:

Kerry: Capture of terror suspect al-Libi in Libya legal

When the US just plainly defends military action in a foreign land  saying: "my right! now GFTO", no -  we can't be less "Amerocentric".

Well obviously they kidnapped him using the guns that he confiscated from US veterans to hand over to Al Qaeda.

Or how about, this is what happens when you back a loose confederation of al Queda linked rebels in the Middle East and help them obtain power.

NPR's take on it this morning (after he had been released) was that some militant groups are pissed off that the US carried out a military raid in Libya and think the Libyan President gave permission for the raid. This was a message meant to convey "It's not nice knowing that armed men might suddenly kidnap you, is it"

"Libya" is a fake country invented by the Italians (the area was always three separate countries: Tripolitania, in the west; Cyrenaica, in the east; and Fezzan, in the south-east). It should not exist as a sovereign state, and to perpetuate it is to exonerate imperialism. I hope the militias continue to resist the Western-imposed government.
