Elvis_Bogart: Ctrl-Alt-Del: I eagerly await the wingnut talking points that will fill the gaping void in my consciousness that is the explanation of how Obama is to blame for this

I'm waiting to see how fast this will be blamed on The Shutdown.

Ya already made that joke to my wife. I also made a joke to her last week when the woman was shot outside the capitol. You know she was at the gates yelling "But Obama its yours" Then what a week later the Russians claim the same thing. OH and it was a joke. I dont believe the mentally unstable woman had the presidents kid.

kombi: So Im looking for some live coverage on this. al jazeera English video is covering it. Then it goes away saying its no longer available in the US. ok so turn to al jazeera America. No coverage. Looks like when they moved to the US they became like every other news station here No news after 5. Now BBC radio is covering it. Sounds like a full raid. Would like to see video of the aftermath. But.

And oh RT and al jazeera are only good for a few things like this. Breaking international news. Like the meteor. Other than that they are propaganda crap.

I learned all I needed to know about them during Egyptian thing a few years back. Basically, when bullets are flying, they are about as good as the best; hit a lull in action, BANG! Some tree that is important to some monotheistic cult is being pissed on by another monotheistic cult.

How the fark does this happen?

Things like this help me realize how fortunate I am to be here in the US.

And shut the fark up about Benghazi, whoever is about to bring it up as a smear piece.

Apparently, yes.

I don't think he'll make it home :(

I had high hopes for Libya actually working well in post-KaDaffyduck leadership, but I have to admit I haven't kept up with it since then.

Really?  What made him a KaDaffyduck and specifically why was Libya not working well for its citizens before then?

Its sad. Im getting old. I remember when channels like CNN and even fox in the beginning was a 24 hour news channels.CNN is worthless. They have just turned into the court network. A god one for US news during an emergency is ABC news now. Not in all markets, on one of the secondary HD channels. But at least they go to local coverage when something happens.

From what the BBC world Service has said. It sounds like a full on gun battle. Raid style. Not like 2 guys.

Cagey B: Karma Chameleon: On Monday Libya questioned the US ambassador over the capture of suspected al-Qaeda leader Anas al-Liby in Tripoli.

I'm sorry, but it's kind of disturbing that overtly violating other countries' sovereignty isperfectly acceptable now because terrorism.

We've been in the "overtly violating other countries' sovereignty" business for a long, long time.

Maybe nonchalantly is a better word to use.

What would the reaction be if Russian or Chinese special ops kidnapped or murdered a US citizen on US soil?

Al Jazera and the BBC are your best options for actual news with real reporters in places where the words "sound" and "bite" are usually not connected.

I would add the Christian Science Monitor as well. I ignorantly discounted that source for a long time because of it's name.

I had to read that several times.  I kept reading it as 'french fries' and wondering both why the channel listing would list any show as 'french fries' as well as why you would tune in to it when looking for a news program...

No if you have DTV  look at channel 354 DOGTV. I thought it was a typo or something. But no. Its a channel you pay extra to subscribe...For dogs. WTF. For 5 bucks a month.

Keep your pet relaxed and entertained with DOGTV-the first television network created exclusively for stay-at-home dogs. The shows are scientifically developed to stimulate and comfort your dog with movements, sounds, and behavior patterns, all from a dog's point of view.

What I wanna know is where's the closest open fried chicken place? I am hungry for fried chicken all of a sudden.

I'm talking with some people online who are in Libya and others who have family in Libya, and they are saying this sounds like a coup or attempted coup by militias and/or Islamist opponents of Zeidan. It's not entirely clear which groups may be involved, but if what I am hearing is correct, this thing may have been planned for months and they are just using the al-Libi thing as an excuse. There have been several kidnappings, attempted kidnappings, and assassinations of police, soldiers and politicians in the months leading up to this.

I know, this is Fark, but all snark aside, I hope they don't harm this guy. By all accounts he's supposed to be a decent man.

Yeah, it does sound like a coup. Or some other sort of power play. The people who took him are claiming to have a warrant from somewhere; the source of that order is likely removing an obstacle to his ability to make money.

On a guess from the recent news in the article, they are annoyed about U.S. incursion or about attempts to disarm militias and stop smuggling. Or all three. I'd bet that the smuggling is the straw that broke the camel's back. Zeidan was trying to fark with someone's money.

The world is, sadly, a very simple place.

It has FOR SURE nothing to do with the raid carried out by the special US forces INSIDE Libyan territory . NOTHING AT ALL! And Obama knew nothing of this, of course he heard it on the news like any mortal.

/cut the crap.
