Ok, i have heard of killers who feel remorse, or ...wanting to hide the body to avoid being caught, but this makes no sense. Pile clothes on top of him, then bury him in concrete? In his apartment / house? Um...facepalms. You're doing it wrong.

Honestly could also make sense as a natural causes then social security pension fraud case. Gramps/uncle joe died and i'm' staying here and have his debit card. Rent and utilities come out automatically, why not cover the body in concrete and collect the cash/live rent free for a bit? It only becomes a problem when gramps has been dead for awhile and you realize wait how do I explain all this?

It has NOT been ruled a homicide?  I realize I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but I'm racking my brain to come up with a circumstance where this wouldn't be the result of homicide.

I mean, I suppose a chupacabra with a cement truck could have flown in on a UFO to dump cement on the dude after he made a wish to the baby Jesus to come take him to heaven because he was tired of life and desperately wanted to be turned into a corpse statue.

Maybe he built some kind of self destructing Rube Goldberg device to commit suicide, and the device was designed to disappear without a trace once he took his last breath.

So, aside from those two reasonable possibilities, I can't figure out any other way this wouldn't be homicide.

He was probably foreign, with an accent, and unfamiliar with the vagaries of Chinese laundry services.  This happens a lot.  It's easy to see how "fluff and fold, light starch" gets lost in translation and comes out in English as "kill me dead, sprinkle with laundry, heavy with Portland cement."

In an eerie twist, the building is the same one where a woman's body was found in a basement apartment in 2001.

OMG!!! OMGOMGOMG you know what that MEANS!?!?!?  Not much really..

Yep, guy dies while doing the washing. Relative doesn't really want to stop living there for free or collecting the benefits but knows that a body starts to smell after a while. So covers the body so no one sees, then covers it in cement, then leaves after the latest payment hits the bank account.

2013-10-09 08:52:00 PM
I suppose we should be upset that they didn't come out immediately saying it was murder, huh?

2013-10-09 08:54:53 PM
I'm thinking prank gone wrong...

Guy passes out naked on the couch. Roommates/buddies think it would be harious for him wake up encased in concrete. Of course the thinker in the group explains that they need to cover him with his clothes so the concrete doesn't actually stick to him.

16 hours later said buddies, with cameras rolling, start poking him with a stick while snickering as they imagine his reaction. Snickering quickly turns to panic as they realize his blue face and room temperature body means he be dead.

I was going to say this was done in poor form but TFA article said the clothes and cement formed a "concrete box" so I guess the form was pretty good.

When I commit suicide, I plan on stuffing a rag down my throat, taping my mouth and my hands together behind my back. Then I will shoot myself in the top of my head and hurl myself into mine shaft.

Clearly it will be suicide.

/j/k too pissy to take the coward's way out

In New Jersey, if there's concrete anywhere near a dead body, ain't no "suspicious" about it, dude got got.

Well, did it say whether the concrete hardened around him, or was it already hard when it was put on top of the clothes?

After all, she said, in a brilliant twist which would do the creators of CSI proud, if the guy was dead under a pile of clothes and then hardened cement fell from the ceiling, like if the roof partially collapsed, it could seem as if he was "buried in clothes and cement," but we might come to find out that he was really poor, and was sleeping under his clothes in a desperate attempt to keep warm, then died of hypothermia; then the roof collapsed on top of the body, burying him in cement, and the slumlord just pushed the body aside as garbage, thinking to re-rent the apartment later when he had cleaned up a bit.

So clearly what happened here is death by natural causes compounded by criminal neglect! Arrest the slumlord!

another person lived there until recently. this man may have died in his sleep. the other person may have continued living there while SS checks rolled in to a bank account and bills were auto-paid. cutting up a body is hardcore. this may have been an alternative.

Or died of natural causes and whoever decided to not deal with reporting and burying the guy.  Could be fraud or just knew they couldn't afford burial services, but first tried clothes to slow the smell before adding cement to really lock in the stink.

That logic has been used in Denton, TX to get a life sentence. No body, no evidence, no scene, and a history of flight and depression. If she turns up anywhere it's going to bankrupt the county.
