Just another case of someone not understanding basic math. Which is funny, considering the source is supposedly a college student.

Not clicking The Blaze. Is it the standard "Waaah, I have to pay for my own insurance instead of offloading the costs onto others! Also I live in a red state whose solid Republican government (that I fully support) not only turned down the Medicaid expansion but skipped the state exchange so now I have to use the federal one! I'm sure I would have been fine on the open insurance market with three chronic pre-existing conditions!"

Right. And you can follow the link to campus reform where it is also posted, and her mother chimes in on the comments. When it is pointed out that under Obamacare she should easily qualify for Medicaid and pay no premium what-so-ever for full coverage, the mother responds that they raised her not to take "government handouts". Forgive me if I pass on her little pity party.

I'm curious about how somebody making $8/hour for thirty-two hours a week managed to get $75/month insurance... or insurance at all for that matter, considering she has some major preexisting conditions. It's either completely fake or she's being booted off Medicaid or something because her state is dumb.

From the comments section:

"I did not dispute her present cost but I will point out that she graduated and is no longer a student. Therefore, no longer applies for student subsidies that I will remind you, are afforded by the rest of us via high insurance costs. Insurance companies don't do anything out of the goodness of their hearts or off their bottom line. Can't blame them, its a business. But now its time for her to step up to the real world. The fact is she makes 117% of the poverty line which means, in Michigan, she is eligible for subsidies that are strangely absent from the analysis. In other words someone is not telling the whole truth. Shocking, I know. "

That's made up.

There were no insurance companies that cost $75 a month and had full coverage with no / low deductible.

Add in some significant medical conditions and it's more far fetched.

As a 98 year old man with 800 types of cancer, down's syndrome, and 8 months pregnant, I was paying 37 cents per decade for health insurance before, but now under Obama"doesn't care" I'm going to be paying a billion dollars per hour.  Thanks, Obama.

Presuming she lives in Michigan, her Republican governor actually signed the Medicaid expansion enacted by Obamacare. At $8/hr, 32 hr/week, that''s ~13 grand per year so she's under 133% of the poverty line and thus eligible for Medicaid.

Outtaphase: Right. And you can follow the link to campus reform where it is also posted, and her mother chimes in on the comments. I like how she is whining that getting a college degree was supposed to guarantee her middle class employment. I can only assume that people refuse to hire her because she's whiny liar.

Her lack of employable skills and feeling of entitlement would fit in nicely as a professor at Liberty University or tea party campaign PR manager.

I am Obamacare.
I'm a 35-yr old stay-at-home gamer.
I drink 2-3 liters of Mountain Dew per day.
I eat 4-5 Crunchwrap Supremes every day, I sleep 10-12 hours at a time, and I regularly masturbate in the mornings and evenings.
I spend most of my time playing X-box, although I occasionally take breaks to surf the web and pass gas.
I have myopia, which affects nearly 1 billion people on earth.
Also, there's a lot of Cheetoh dust around the frames of my glasses.
Anyway, I'm not sure where I'm going with this.
I am Obamacare.
Or something.

That could be true, but what she isn't telling you is that it either has a very high deductible, like around $10k+, or the plan doesn't cover any of her preexisting conditions, no prescriptions, and has a limit so low that if she goes to the doctor twice in a year she will be done with it. In the last few weeks people have been popping up allover with these stories of how Obamacare is taking their $60 premiums and tripling them and then when people actually look into their claims they find the closets plans in their area to what they claimed they had were like what I mentioned above.

1) It's probably bullshiat
2) If not bullshiat, she might not want to (or cannot afford to) move out of Michigan.
3) Her plan didn't cover what she thought it covered.
4) It's still probably bullshiat.

It looks like Blue Cross/Blue Shield Michigan have a 'Young Adult' plan that sounds like it could be what she's referencing. Supposedly sub $100/month, designed for people who don't actually need medical coverage.

I am (or was) the Republican alternative to the ACA.
I died from a preventable disease while waiting in the emergency room for treatment.
During my ER wait, I exposed several other people to the disease, which started a pandemic.
The people that were able to be treated either had insurance or skipped on the ER bill because they were too poor.
Treatment costs soared as those without the means to pay passed their costs onto those that did.
Fewer and fewer people were able to be treated.
The people that were not able to be treated died.
I am (or was) the Republican alternative to the ACA.

Ahh yes. She should be mad at Obama for allowing her to have insurance at all.

With a preexisting condition, no insurance unless you get it through your employer.

Instead, she is a woman with significant medical conditions has meaningful coverage for $350ish a month before subsidies.

In other words, she is Obamacare.
