It's way cheaper than buying the liberal school of thought at the newsstand each month. That's the sort of fiscal responsibility we're looking for in a Fed chairperson.

I support her.   I think she will be good for the country because she will keep printing billions of dollars to prop up the economy.

I'm looking for a new car discount as part of a new stimulus, and free electric for my house for...well ever.
I don't want to set my hopes too high, but if they would forgive my families loans, that would be nice.

All hail the pump of the FED.

It is beyond doubt or arguement that Republicans are against everything, hate everyone and will destroy you all.

So farewell then, America. we'll miss you. After a century or so, when the radioactive ruins of your former civilisation have cooled enough to allow us to visit, we'll come.

We'll set up a simple memorial in the desolation that was your nation's capital. On that shrine we'll place the bones of Cruz, Cantor and the preserved tanned hide of that orange guy, and, once a year, televised worldwide, we will, with simple dignity, piss on them for you. We it's what you would have wanted.

Because we cared, America. We cared for you.

And you be farked.
Totally.

sincerely,

The rest of the world

"Ms. Yellen subscribes to the liberal school of thought that the best way to handle our nation's fiscal challenges is to throw more money at them," said John Cornyn of Texas, the party's whip in the Senate.

"Whereas we Republicans," added Cornyn, "subscribe to the notion that good governance requires destroying the government unless and until the American people learn the mistake of their ways and elect a good, god fearing white Republican to the office of president."

Color is just a bonus. They hated Clinton for reasons just as irrational. Obama was a Muslim from Kenya. Clinton was a mass-murderer who ate at McDonald's.

I'm just waiting for the House to authorize the 20 million dollar open-ended investigation to find out Obama once threw his toenail clippings out of the Presidential limousine's moonroof.

I love that people have been biatching and crying about printing this and pumping that for years, and yet the fiscal apocalypse has yet to happen because of it. It's almost as if it's a substanceless biatching point.

So you have no substantive reason why Yellen would be bad for the fed, nor do you have an alternative.  You just want to throw shiat and be stupid, that about right?

This man is either stupid or thinks we are stupid.

img.fark.net

Alan "Rand Disciple" Greenspan was the king of free money (if you were the right people that is).  Look at the interest rate chart.  He takes over the fed in the 80's and starts slashing interest rates for years in a row.  This basically floods wall street with a lot of free and easy money.  Also, by pushing interest rates to historic lows, the investment vehicles for the average american's retirement plan (t-bills, annuities, etc) had their yields reduced to near zero.  Leaving people with two options.  Stay in those safe investments and get hammered with low returns or put your capital in the far riskier equity market.  This started the Tech bubble.  A very easy to see, tulip mania type, market bubble.  However, Greenspan did nothing to rein in the markets.  Instead he claimed that the rules of nature had changed and that this was a once in a century rise to a new paradigm.  Then amazingly he poured rocket fuel into an already overheated market by cutting interest rates further.  Effectively, having our central bank fuel the bubble.

Then the bubble popped and wiped out trillions of shareholder value.  However, instead of letting those irresponsible investment banks and hedge funds who valued start ups with 3 dudes at 5 billion, feel the pain of the market forces.  He cut rates to then some of the lowest levels in history.  Flooding once again wall street with money.  Which start fueling the mother of all bubbles.  The housing bubble.  Which was made even worse because investors just lost their shirts in the tech crash.  Now they had lost money they had borrowed with cheap and easy credit thanks to Greenspan.

Then look at that rise in interest rates right before the financial tsunami in 07/08.  At the beginning of that year, and right at the end of his term the maestro started talking openly about how much homeowners could have saved if they had went with variable instead of fixed rate mortgages.  WORSE, he said this knowing that he was about to begin raising rates.  In fact, from that point on he raised rates at every meeting.  It was like one final hand job to the banks on his way out the door.  He herded consumers into variable rate mortgages and then pushed those home payments up.

If this lady literally farked each big bank ceo and then gave them the money they asked for, she would still be better than Greenspan. At least she would be using her own koochie and not ours to do it.

It's not a bad philosophy.  When the economy is down you want to encourage spending.  Lowering interest rates encourages borrowing and spending and discourages saving, which is good in this situation, because the only way out of a recession is to spend your way out - people need to buy a lot of stuff so that businesses can hire more people who will then have more money to buy more stuff of their own.

Plus, devaluing the dollar some makes our exports more attractive and allows for debts incurred before the devaluation to be paid off with 'cheaper' money.

Once the economy is kicking up at top speed you put the brakes on it and bring the growth down to a controllable level by raising interest rates.
