I am personally placing a hundred-dollar bounty on the head of Tim McCracken Craig Berube  . He's the head coach and chief punk on that Syracuse Philadelphia team.

I read Jeremy Roenick's book this summer.  Apparently years ago, while tied up in a scrum, refs had Berube's arms held down, refs weren't looking, and JR punched him in the head sending Berube in to a rage.  For years, every time they played, Berube pledged vengeance, screaming at his bench.  But, because JR played on the first line, and Berube was on the 3rd of 4th, there was only a very short period in a game where Berube had a chance to get him.  Every game, Berube would try his best to get at him, but JR would rush to the bench to avoid a beating.

Well, many years later, JR is sitting in the Philadelphia locker room, tying his skates.  Berube is now an assistant coach, and walks in to the room.  Roenick asks Berube how things were going.  Berube walks right up to JR, upper cut to the head as hard as he can. Roenick is on the ground shaken.  Berube holds out his hand to help him up and says 'Now we're even.'

FTA:  The Detroit Red Wings, with their commitment to skill and speed and synchronicity, have been proving that theory wrong for two decades, but no matter.

I almost spit out my coffee.  Yeah.  I forgot how rarely St. Probert dropped his gloves.  Or McCarty.  Or Konstantinov.  Or Lapointe.  Or Shanahan.  They have Bertuzzi on the team for fark sake.

Yeah, the Red Wings only made the playoffs for 22 years.  Next best is San Jose, with 9 years.  Oh yeah, their coach is an ex-Red Wing assistant. How many consecutive years has Philly made the playoffs?

He's pretty clueless for not realizing that the better teams are the ones with goons on them.  I mean, Philly had a Stanley Cup just about 40 years ago.  They're right on the cutting edge of what it takes to win in this league.  If only I could remember what happened in 1997.

Whoosh.  Maybe this will help.

If the contest is making it to the playoffs, then I think the Red Wings better sit in a corner.  Flyers made the playoffs 36 of the last 45 years.

70s and early 80s Wings were awful.  Made up for it in spades in recent years, but it certainly wasn't always a rose garden.

The Craig Berube song, by the Ramada Gods

Written by a Calgary band back in 1993, when Berube was on the team.  Something about inadvertently hitting on Craig Berube's girlfriend and having to deal with an enraged Craig Berube.
