I tend to think a lot of politicians have punchable faces, but Ted's is something a step above that.

He thinks he knows everything, so no one can convince him that he is wrong.

That's why no one can deal with him.

2013-10-09 11:11:10 AM
It's OK folks.  When it fails he'll just claim he never made that claim.

Ted's making it up as he goes along and says and does anything that suits his purposes at the current moment.  Your accusations of duplicity, hypocrisy, unreasonableness, and self-serving behavior just serve to amuse him.  In Ted's sociopathic narcissistic mind, it's his game and you're just tokens in it.

Of course he believes this. He has crafted his entire career around believing his own bullshiat, facts and reality be damned.

James!: He looks like a TV preacher.

Considering a good portion of the GOP plank is based on faith, rather than empirical observation, who better to lead them?

2013-10-09 12:07:40 PM
Perhaps the only good thing about this whole drama is that, when it's over and the dust has settled, Ted Cruz's political career will be deader than Abe Vigoda and Ace Frehley combined.

Given how many districts are solid Republican, well, I just don;t think that many old people will die in those districts by the election in 2014.

No, but if public sentiment holds and people don't forget for a year, 2014 will be much worse for the GOP than would normally be expected in an off-year election of a President's second term.

The predictable thing is that Cruz is completely wrong.  If the GOP laid low and didn't offend anyone, they'd probably make big gains in 2014, if history is any indicator.  Now they're almost guaranteeing big Dem turnouts.

There's an article on Politico right now about Ted Cruz complaining about how his family was unfairly impacted by the government shutdown he initiated because his daughters were supposed to come up and take a week of vacation to visit the museums in DC.

FTFA: "You look at the past four elections, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012. Three of the last four, 06, 08 and 12 were disasters for Republicans," Cruz said Monday night on Fox News's The Kelly File.

"And they were years in which we just, we stayed quiet, we went along to get along, we didn't stand on principle. The only year that was good for Republicans was 2010 when we painted in bold colors, not in pale pastels. We stood for principle."

He thinks 2012 was a year where Republicans didn't loudly proclaim their principles. He thinks 2012 was a poor year for Republicans because they weren't full-throated enough in their beliefs, not because they decided to put people on the ballot who were unapologetic about holding extreme positions.

I support Cruz, great man. Metaphorically interpreted the effects of the ACA correctly.

He's going to be one of our new founding fathers soon and someday President. If you think about it, Obama won a Senate seat in 2004 and four years later became President. Cruz could follow the same path to the Presidency as Obama did. He needs to find an old, wise Senator from the Republican Party. Maybe Jesse Helms or Strom Thurmond can help Cruz out.

Off year election or no, I believe House Republicans will discover their districts aren't sufficiently gerrymandered to keep them from being thrown out en masse in favor of a legislature the public doesn't have to hear about on the evening news every other week.

2013-10-09 12:16:26 PM
I'm pretty sure Cruz is a sociopath. WikiHow gave me some tips on how to determine how someone is a sociopath and he seems to fit the bill pretty well.

I read that as less complaining and more rejoicing in how they had a fabulous time without having to visit any of those unnecessary evil big gub'ment socialist museums.

Maybe a couple of years or so ago, I would give equal weight to both party's candidates.  Because of people like Ted Cruz, Republican has become equivalent to stupid whack-outed zealot.  I can't imagine that they will ever get my vote.  In fact, I have probably gotten to the point of just painting every Republican voter with that same brush and will verbally demean them whenever possible.

Good job Republicans.  Good job.
