The opening we all know...

Two of those were movies I didn't even know existed ("Scooby Doo," "Wanted"), and a bunch more were movies that probably even the people who made them don't give a crap about ("GI Jane," "The Beach," "Scream 4" for pete's sake).

Yeah, exactly. None of those were even memorable movies, let alone opening sequences.

If the list had stuff like 2001, A New Hope, 28 Days Later, or Reservoir Dogs, then we might have something.

The Incredible Hulk alt opening actually makes sense thanks to that little scene in the Avengers about him trying to kill himself.

Iron Man 2: Nope. Not better.

Gi Jane
: Every version of this movie sucks.

Scooby Doo
: Actually, that movie is funnier then I remembered. It's *almost tolerable*. I like this poening too.

Scream 4: In my netxlif queue, haven;t watched it so won't watch that oppening.

Incredible Hulk: Everything about this movies was so "meh", even the alternate opening cannot escape it. That being said "meh" may as well mean "Oscar Winner" compared to Ang Lee's version.

The Beach: ... well that's KINDA better. Ish.

Toy Story: Absolutley not better. If you start this whole series with how Woody is just basically a jealous prick from the very beginning, then he never becomes MORE then a recovering jealous prick. The original opening gives you enough context to show he is just jealous and not a complete prick.

Godfather 3: Never seen it.

Wanted: Besides Jolie nudity (which I can find watching Gia thank you very much), the show is awful like GI Jane. Who cares if this is better.

Avengers: If you are going with the "they failed" universe movie, SURE. That's sweet. If that was your opening and you leave the end of the movie as is, it makes no canonical sense.

So the list was interesting... I guess it really was alot of trying to improve overall bad movies and failing in most cases.

So Avengers originally had one of Whedon's episode opening tropes - showing the aftermath of the big fight, then rewinding to the events leading up to it.

I like the Chitauri opening better for the film. The flash-forward teasers are fun, but best left for TV.

Jim from Saint Paul: Iron Man 2: Nope. Not better.

You are incorrect sir, opening with the agonizing cries of a tortured man who turned out to just be hungover was gold, dude.  Brilliant.

If there was an alternate opening for 28 Days Later, Walking Dead would have stolen it

There's a bookend to that opening for the end of the movie, that has Hill biatching them out for trying to nuke NYC. It's actually an interesting pair of scenes, and the opening does not work, at all, with out the ending scene.

One guy made an opening to Xmen First Class with some still images and a different version of the theme from the cartoon that was simply awesome
