Now, see, this is just the sort of thing that using Morse code while driving, instead of texting, would eliminate.  No need to take your eyes off the road, so no need to pull over.

Why, just yesterday, on the way home from work, I contacted HC2SL in Ecuador and LU7HF in Argentina.

He wants to warn others about the danger now. This retard should shut the fark up. The way morons like this talk it's all "you don't think it could happen to you blah blah blah". Tell you what buddy, we all heard the message the first time and don't drive like total farking loser like you. So please, do shut up.

I tested while driving this morning.

/You don't need to pull over when you are driving under 5mph.
//Took me 2 hours to drive what normally takes me 20 min
///Why the fark was there a pedestrian on the BW Parkway?

Texting and driving should be treated like DWI.
Only harsher.

Seeing as people continue to text and drive I guess everyone didn't hear the message the first time.

FTFA: "And it's not worth text messaging while you're driving, it's not worth talking on a phone while you're driving because you never know that split second [you] can end up dead."

You're a Goddamned genius, Gump!

I see people texting and driving all the time. They think you can't see them or tell that they're texting, but when they're driving with their head looking down, it's a pretty good giveaway! I agree that there should be a huge fine and jail time for people who text and drive.

The message is loud and clear. The ones still texting and driving aren't listening to anybody, and the rest of us don't want to hear this pathetic farkwit's sob story. I've heard enough talks like this and the common thread seems to be the line "I was like you once, never thought it could happen to me. Didn't think the warnings were worth paying attention to." These guys telling their dumbfark story isn't going to get to the people who aren't listening already. It just annoys the rest of us who do drive safely.

FTA: "I was, I was panicking," Michael Patrick said. "I had like three seconds, two seconds to get out of the car and that last second the train just hit my car, hit my truck," Patrick said.

Between these statements and the reason for the article, this person just sounds 'all around too stupid' to be behind the wheel of anything.

I find it much easier to text and drive with a real slide out keyboard, not the crappy touch screen keyboards...

FTFA: "Patrick wasn't hurt but he was arrested for two misdemeanor warrants and was charged with driving without a license."

Agree, Clint Torres, agree.

It should be the same as OVI because you yourself make the decision to do it or not.  In fact, I'd say it was worse because you decided to jeopardize other drivers and their loved ones while completely sober, just because you think what you have to say is SO farking important that it just can't wait.

It's even easier with a single key.

How do you know they arent consulting google maps or something else? I always try to turn up the volume on navigation before I head out but the other day had a "continue to the route" direction. WTF does that even mean? Passenger was totally useless so I may have looked down once or twice.

If someone is driving dangerously or negligently, throw the book at them. You couldnt do your taxes while driving before the advent of cell phones, so it's dumb to give texting special consideration. The guy in TFA was driving without a brain. "Zomg the phone made me cross four lanes of traffic and crash into a train!" He definitely shouldnt be behind the wheel.

I am a terrible, terrible person.

Because...

I think we should encourage stupid people to do stupid things and get themselves killed.

Unfortunatly, there's the 'they kill other people' and 'expensive medical treatments they can't pay for.'
part that makes my plan ill advised.

Just wait till the heads up displays let you text on your windshield.

It's funnier if change the driver's name... just a little bit.

"I was, I was panicking," Danica Patrick said.

Patrick said she was texting and driving when she lost control. She said she veered across three lanes of traffic before she got stuck on the train tracks near Grand and 99th avenues.

She jumped out just before the train hit her vehicle. The train dragged the truck 30 to 40 feet before it was able to stop, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
