I loved Tron: Legacy. Very underrated IMO, then again I may be biased as I'm also a huge fan of Tron.

farkin' A, baby.  It is my "show off my projector" movie, as in, if there are people over that have not seen my movie projector, 1080p Tron Legacy is getting farking WATCHED.

Please, don't.
An unnecessary movie sequel won't stop Blade Runner from being my favorite movie of all time but I'd like to live a world without one.

Speed Racer doesn't get enough love.  It was as good of an adaptation of the source material as anyone could hope for.

You can't do a decent sequel to "Blade Runner".  K.W. Jeter tried, and wrote a couple of novels. They sucked.

It's a complete story. Yeah, the world of "Blade Runner" is farking awesome. But there's just nowhere to go with it without retreading everything. Which is what I'm sure they'll do.

actually, seriously.  Blade Runner sucks a massive pile of ass.  I am sorry, guys.  I have tried to love that film.  I have watched several different cuts.  I have studied the visuals and admit they are good.  There is no reason that I shouldn't love the film.  I am the target audience.

But sweet monkey jesus the actual film sucks sucks sucks.  A remake with decent actors and big budget FX MIGHT be spectacular.

Actually it was called Total Recall 2070 and had a cop working with a replicant partner, hunting replicants, it was a good show.  A combo of the three Dick works.

not trolling.  the movie sucks.  I hate that I think that.  I have tried to MAKE myself like the film, and I just can't do it.  I have watched that film far more than someone that really thinks it sucks should have, and dude the movie blows.

Why do you think that? I'm not a Blade Runner groupie or anything, but I do like the movie and think it's got some brilliant scenes. (My favorite is still the robot buddies of the poor doomed nerdy guy, home again home again, jiggity jig)

So why do you think it sucks exactly? It can be a bit slow at times but even those scenes are well-acted and usually pretty wonderful to watch.

the movie was ok.  but a new one will fail miserable.  first, all sci-fi nowadays blows.  that's because CGI.  stop using CGI, and learn how to build a set/put on make up/operate a camera.

instead of a sequel, he should  make Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep into a movie and not cut out the whole point.

I have no faith in Ridley Scott after that Prometheus fiasco, so I'm not hopeful about a Bladerunner sequel.

I hated the first Tron, but Legacy is one of my favorite movies ever. Sometimes sequels don't suck.

fark you.  I defy you to point out the CGI in Gravity.  You can't.  CGI is not the problem.  shiatTY CGI is the problem, if there is one.

Also see:  Europa Report.

Movie making has moved on far past building ridiculous miniatures or stupid rubber costumes that NEVER looked real to begin with, and GOOD CGI is farking SEAMLESS.  Case in point - in Star Trek: Into Darkness, in the opening shots when the Enterprise rises, it simply looks like the Enterprise rose up from the ocean.  It doesn't look like CGI.  It just looks like someone was there filming a goddamned starship taking off.

I tell you this as well - even bad CGI does nothing more than look about as crappy as rubber suits and miniatures.

What about "Shia LaBeouf and Blade Runner are mutually exclusive,"?  I'd think that to be a perfectly viable and accept sentence using both.

Blade Runner is my favorite movie.  I would love to see a sequel or a sidequel a la Prometheus.  I still have hopes AMC will option DADoES as a limited series and give it to Darabont.  Jon Berthal or Hamm the Man as Deckard.  They could have Bryan Cranston play Phil Resch, maybe Lori from TWD as Iran and Maggie as Pris (don't remember the actresses names).

My favorite thing about BR is the question it asked.  What does it mean to be alive?

I'm kind of in the same boat. I don't hate it or really think it sucks, but I'm the prime demo for it and I should love it, but it just does nothing for me. I appreciate it for its place in film but I just never got into it, despite trying to.

Bingo.

Why don't people realize that some stories are complete and self-contained, say everything they have to say, and need no more elaboration?  "Blade Runner" is one of those movies, and a sequel, no matter what the quality, is simply not needed.

Stop it, Ridley and Harrison.  Just stop it.  You have already made unnecessary sequels that besmirch the originals, both of you.  Knock it off.

You're both wrong.  Mis-use and abuse of CGI is the problem.  And it's not just CGI, it's any special effects, and effects have been abused long before there was CGI.  It's very simple:  when the effects exist to serve the purpose of the story, you're probably golden.  When the story exists to serve the purpose of the special effects, you're farked.

Effects used in service of a story can enrich it immeasurably.  Effects used as the point of the whole movie in the first place is nothing more than effects porn, and makes for bad and BORING movies.

This.  The whole point of the book is a study of empathy.  I'm glad he called the movie 'Blade Runner' and not 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' because they are two different stories.
