The building of this thing has already been a, you'll forgive the expression, an ass-ache, as Hershey -- a town with a giant amusement park -- is saying that building a Chipolte is like putting a giant spring-loaded dong on the Lincoln Memorial

I love food from all different types of establishments and.I am by no means a snob when it comes to eating out.

Chipotle may be tasty to a lot of people, but the food is as mexican as taco bell.

Good Mexican food comes from places that look a shade dirtier than you like and are about to be raided by immigration.

Chipotle does not fit in this category.

2013-10-09 07:48:05 AM
The plans for the restaurant were on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'.

Chipotle will settle out of court by offering her coupons for "specials"

I dunno. Every Chipotle I've ever seen has a short Mexican woman working in the kitchen.

Count me as another Chipotle fan. I get it though that it's just not hip to like Mexican unless it comes from a hole in the wall or a converted RV.

If there is one within reasonable driving distance, or you can get it on your way out of town Q-doba is vastly superior to Chipotle.

Chipoltle is seriously good stuff. I know where to get real Mexican food here in NYC, so I am not deluded.

sethen320: Chipotle may be tasty to a lot of people, but the food is as mexican as taco bell.

Both are Americanized Mexican food. However, Taco Bell is purely Tex-Mex, complete with hard tacos and ground beef as the primary filling. Chipoltle is more along the lines of what I found in CA. I can get real Mexican food here in NYC, but they are out of the way and sometimes kinda dirty, so I usually wind up in a Chipoltle instead.

De Mole in Sunnyside has the best mole sauce.
Nixtamal in Corona has the best tamales.
There's a Mexican truck on Park and 51st that makes the best cemitas.
Toloache is the best sit-down Mexican in NYC.
Rosa Mexicana is overrated and over priced, but still good drinks and good food in a pinch.

Here in Forest Hills, I'll stick with Chipoltle. Seargent Garcia's is vile.

In before hipster hating on chipot-

Oh well.

As to the story - sounds like the person who built her Hershey House skipped on compacting the foundations, assuming the cracks weren't pre-existing that is. If the cracks were caused by construction I'd be surprised if the repair is more onerous than grout injection.

I love Chipotle -- rice and guac make the difference vs. other one-hand-burrito meals. We take our kids to dozens of different restaurants (lots of local, a couple chains), but for 6 years now, all three of them just want to go to Chipotle. Also, while they have a lot of sodium in their food, it is nice that everything is fresh (no microwaves or freezers on site).

I grew up in Denver, and used to go to the first one on Evans. Seems like most people I know who hate Chipotle also hate cilantro. Cilantro is pretty hot or cold, like aspartame, either you really like its taste, or you don't.

After growing up in Denver on good hole-in-the-wall tex-mex joints, then moving to Austin and learning a bit more about authentic (interior) Mexican, I would never ever call Chipotle "Mexican food." It's wonderful, but it's not Mexican.

This is like saying there is good pizza in San Francisco, and Pizza Hut is the best.

(Try Taqueria Downtown in Jersey City.. Grand @ Grove. The closest I've tasted to Cali-style Mexican food.)

Oh great, now all of these yay-hoos crawl out of the woodwork.  Listen, if you go to a fast food joint, spend 6 to 8 bucks and expect authentic Mexican cuisine, you're an idiot.  It's fast food.  For what it is, it's pretty good.

Chipotle paid for this headline. That's the only explanation - it's not funny at all, unless you are laughing at "Chipotle, serving good Mexi......" I can't even finish typing this shiat

This dumb coont goes outside and notices a crack in her house that was most likely there before the construction and decided she wanted a pay day.

Money grubbing whore...

Also, WTF is she complaining about? They had to have a zoning change to make it commercial...or is she just stupid and never bothered to look up that the property adjacent to her is and always has been zoned commercial?

Furthermore, a Chipotle next door? That would be farking awesome.

If you just don't like it on the grounds that you don't like it, that makes all the sense in the world.  If you don't like it because "it's not real Mexican food" is where you enter derp territory.

You need to visit California,  there is a taqueria on almost every corner.  Tacos are usually $1.25 to $2.00 and sopas are about $2.50.  These places are as authentic as you can get.

Authentic mexican cuisine was never intended to be expensive. There's no reason you can't get the real thing for 6-8 bucks...and just as fast.

It's at least 3 times better than what Taco Bell makes, and that's a pretty successful business.

It's fresh beans and rice from scratch, hormone-free meat that's cooked on-site, fresh veggies, and homemade guacamole that's 99% fresh avocado. And it tastes great (to most people.) It's way better than Taco Bell, and a hell of a lot better than fatty ground beef wrapped in a corn husk and covered in retried beans, aka "authentic Mexican."

It's amazing how refined the palates of some Farkers are. After a single bite of an authentic burrito they could probably tell you which remote village in Mexico the cooks grandmother came from based on the unique blend of spices and the exact composition of the hastily wrapped fast food they are holding.

Obviously grilled seasoned chicken wrapped up in a flour tortilla with rice, beans, corn, salsa and fried peppers that was cooked in a Chipotle kitchen has nothing in common with a true burrito and is practically inedible to these gourmet diners who grace us with their presence.
