"The comments to U.S. News were designed to do one thing and one thing only: stir the feather of the mainstream media," said Conlon, a father of three. "Nothing gets the attention of the mainstream media like some sort of disastrous threat. I knew it was going to ruffle some feathers."

So, just farkin that chicken a little bit, huh?

Calmamity: Stir the feather?

I've never heard that phrase in my entire life.

He was going to look pretty stupid as the only trucker on the road "protesting".

Yeah, I'm wondering if that's code for "The Secret Service has just informed me that they know my street address, the color of my wife's underwear, and what I had for breakfast this morning."

But if it's not, good grief.  The man's a troll, and worse, he's a bad troll.

"HEY!  We're going to mobilize thousands of big rigs, take the Capitol by force, and haul Senators off in handcuffs.  Psych. Ha ha, it's a joke.  Didn't you think that was hilarious?  Why aren't you laughing?"

"The comments to U.S. News were designed to do one thing and one thing only: stir the feather of the mainstream media," said Conlon

To what end?

If the purpose was to "stir feathers" and nothing more, then this was nothing better than vandalism.  Damage for the sake of damage.  Chaos for the sake of chaos.  Fear for the sake of fear.

What a fkn juvenile dick.

Send the little snot-nosed prick to bed without any dinner.

Chariset: the color of (his) wife's underwear,

to be fair, everyone on his block knows that fact.  and the mailman.

2013-10-08 05:27:26 PM
Oh baloney.  The guy's language betrays him.  He was serious and now he's trying save face (and time in jail).

Please proceed.....

Damn.

I was looking forward to the movie they'd make of this if he made it happen. Hopefully with this guy played by Will Farrell, and featuring Steve Carrell and Seth Rogen as fellow truckers.

Ah well.

Even so, he thinks that he has already scored a small victory: attention for his cause - mainly the overreach of government and the inability for politicians to follow the rules as outlined in the Constitution.

Take the current government shutdown.

"We would not be having this conversation if government was balancing this budget," he said.
His solution: Take their perks away, and pay them minimum wage until the budget gets balanced.

For someone so concerned about the Constitution he seems blissfully unaware of the 27th amendment.

The Beltway already shuts down at least 3 or 4 times a day anyway. Would anyone have even noticed?

Nation wide recall election first, then start paying minimum wage??

He wanted to stir the feather but now he has bigger problems to fry.

2013-10-08 06:33:49 PM
Come to PA. The assholes shut down every highway in the state as a matter of course because most of them are limited to 65 and wind up getting stuck next to each other as a result when one has the dim-witted idea to pass another.

/ just gone done following one such rolling barricade for 11 miles on my commute home

Well, at least his point was made, which was that we shouldn't sell arms to terrorists when no American hostages are being held for over a year.

2013-10-08 06:36:46 PM
According to his facebook page it's still happening.  Maybe.  He writes as well as he speaks, so I can barely comprehend what he is saying.  Sounds like he's still planning to go through with it, just not going to lockdown the beltway.

This man lives in a fantasy world.  Thanks, Reagan!

So, asshole has a Kris Kristofferson complex and wishes he could faintly smell Ali McGraws sweaty panties?  Sounds good to me.  Or maybe he got confused and thought he could be Burt Reynolds in the Firebird.  Clint and Clyde?

2013-10-08 06:39:18 PM
As I noted yesterday, the guy's blog had a grand total of 9 pages of comments, many from the same individuals. I wonder if US News and Reports will recant the story? The best part of the story yesterday was the 800+ Facebook likes and comments from the hoveround and teahadist 'patriots'.

Someone making outlandish statements in order to get attention?  In D.C.???!   NO WAY!!

Sounds like someone finally told him what rush hour in DC is like.

2013-10-08 06:48:56 PM
But what about the shiatstains on Fark yesterday who totally said this was going to work because nobody in a city can possibly comprehend an air brake?

Best. Troll. Ever

Why would Canadian truckers even care is the U.S. government wants to wreck itself? Hell, a prolonged shutdown might even strengthen the Canadian Dollar even more against our dollar.

2013-10-08 06:55:12 PM
Goddammit, I was looking forward to this.

Everybody stop explaining to motivated idiots what would actually happen if they put their cunning plans in motion.

2013-10-08 06:56:14 PM
BTW, it does not require "big rigs".
Get Wilson to recommend it. Tom goes along, done deal.

2013-10-08 06:57:08 PM
Getting called on irresponsible statements, then claiming it was a joke?  Rush Limbaugh has made a pretty good living at that.

BSABSVR: But what about the shiatstains on Fark yesterday who totally said this was going to work because nobody in a city can possibly comprehend an air brake?

you give me 2 semis and i can shut down the east coast for eight years.

I was looking forward to him being arrested.

2013-10-08 07:03:18 PM
Soooooo the IRS audit, TSA strip search, ATF cavity search, and Homeland Security beat down changed his mind?

Somebody was working during the shutdown. Guvment 1, Ignant Goober 0.

2013-10-08 07:04:22 PM

Shirley Ujest: I was looking forward to him being arrested.

He'll show up on Friday.  Walk the mall with like 15 people and claim victory.

2013-10-08 07:09:58 PM
The Beltway does a good job of doing that on its own. It doesn't need truckers to help them out.

BTW, WTF am I looking at in this pic?

"First of all, we know it would not be right to go to D.C. to lock down the city by the Belt loop,"

Well that's good, since blocking the road that goes AROUND the city wouldn't really stop anyone from getting INTO the city anyway.  To do that, you have to block roads like 95 and 66, which mostly block themselves daily without help.
