That's the curse of being a professional. You see some hack doing something wrong, and you want to help him do it right. It's instinct. So you see a biker kicking some poor schmuck in the ribs, and you just react, You tell him, "No, no. The kidneys are below the ribs. Sure, the ribs can make a nice crunchy target for your steel toed boots, but trust me, you want the kidneys."
And then the newspaper jumps all over you, just for sharing your expertise with a novice.

Meanwhile, Christopher Cruz, 28, who allegedly started the chain of events by slowing down his bike to let his pals ahead - leaving Lien to bump his car into him - said in an interview aired Monday that he felt no responsibility.
"
I was looking over my shoulder to see where my friends were," he told ABC News. "I wanted them to pull in front so I could follow them. I didn't brake, but when I looked over my shoulder, my hand came off the throttle a little, but the driver didn't slow down at all and bumped me."

No, simple physics proves him correct.  Of course, for that to be true, the video taping motorcyclist has to have sped up at that exact same time by 100 MPH.  But I'm sure that is how it happened.

You can see in the article how these nice bikers only lovingly pulled him from the drivers' seat and did not in any way attack the child or mother...especially not by attacking the rear window...where driver's are known to be.

Also, the bikie violated human biology. You have to give a human at least two seconds to see what is happening and to react to it... and you can't be certain how they'll react. Count how many seconds there were between his starting to slow down and contact. Much less than two seconds -- the driver's foot may have been on its way to the brake pedal, but physics rules.

They boxed the SUV in with bikes/people.  That was their first mistake.  You don't get to imprison other people.  You are not the law enforcement (well some were...but that's another story).  You don't get to slash someone's tires and act aggressively with 20 or 30 or 40 times more people than the car you're surrounding.  If a group of thugs are attacking your vehicle, you have every right to escape the situation.  Parking your bike in front of an SUV on the freeway doesn't give you a free pass to vandalize and become violent with the vehicle/occupants.  The bikers learned a valuable lesson about cause and effect, and physics that day.  There's consequences for your actions, hopefully the bikers learned something.

Not sure if you're trolling or stupid, but it doesn't matter because some people (a very small minority) still believe what you said.

It's like this asshole doesn't realize that we've all watched the video.  It's clear that he intentionally got in front of the SUV.  You can see him watching the SUV over his right shoulder as he pulls in front of it, then over his left shoulder as he hits the brakes, and you can see his brake lights.

Speef: Those motokiddies were behaving like absolute morons. None of them should be allowed back on the road.

The thug who got run over after trying to block this guy from leaving is a career criminal who did not have a drivers license.  The thug who was using his helmet to bust out the window is a career criminal who did not have a drivers license.  Legally, they were already "not allowed on the road", but being thugs, they don't really care about the law.

The SUV driver had every right to try and escape when he was attacked, and the asshole who got run over for blocking him in deserved it, as did most of the bikers involved.  You're such an asshole that I'll just assume you deserve to get run over, too.

"...prosecutors declined to press ahead with the case against another biker, Allen Edwards, 43, of Queens, who allegedly punched the driver's side rear window of Lien's SUV before Lien was pummeled. " - TFA

WHY NOT? There is enough evidence to make a charge.

""Prematurely charging individuals with low-level crimes does not further the goals of the investigation and could weaken the cases we expect to bring against the perpetrators of serious crimes." " - Manhattan district attorney's Trials Division, Karen Friedman Agnifilo

So... even with enough evidence to charge someone with a lower crime, they get away with it because someone around them was committing a larger crime?

How...what? I don't even...

Hoblit: "...prosecutors declined to press ahead with the case against another biker, Allen Edwards, 43, of Queens, who allegedly punched the driver's side rear window of Lien's SUV before Lien was pummeled. " - TFA

JuggleGeek: Meanwhile, Christopher Cruz, 28, who allegedly started the chain of events by slowing down his bike to let his pals ahead - leaving Lien to bump his car into him - said in an interview aired Monday that he felt no responsibility.

"I was looking over my shoulder to see where my friends were," he told ABC News. "I wanted them to pull in front so I could follow them. I didn't brake, but when I looked over my shoulder, my hand came off the throttle a little, but the driver didn't slow down at all and bumped me."

That SUV driver should be in prison, though. Pity he got off with a few bruises and slashes.

I can't pity a criminal who's injured while commiting a crime. This is a clear case of self defense. Only shame is no bikers died

Not to mention the frames before it where the bikie was along side him in his lane and went out of his way to scoot in front of him at very close range.

What you missed the point where he kicked the side of the vehicle, before he stopped in front of it. These kind of bike rides tend to end badly, because of mob mentality. The SUV driver was stupid for ever stopping, at the point he started running he need to keep going until he either found a cop or out ran those farkers.

Bikers like this are not just a few bad apples they are the majority of these assholes. Which is why I favor laws making motorcycles illegal. They have no place on the road as they are dangerous vehicles driven by reckless criminal assholes.

Since you took away nearly everyone's right to own a gun, Mr Bloomberg, I don't think many people will intervene against a bike gang anymore.

Except the NYPD officers in the gang, who are one of the few people who can get concealed carry in NYC.

You know, because they're more responsible and law-abiding than you.  And would never be in gangs.

This could be a watermark case in that it will uncover some really ugly things the PDs like to keep hidden.
Finally, there is evidence that they have in their ranks those who are willing to aid and abet others in breaking the law as willful participants.

Or, they could just continue to screw over the general public since we fail so piss-poorly to have their asses thrown off the force and prosecuted because we as a society are unwilling to make enough noise so the lawmakers and judges cannot ignore us.

One reaps what one sows. Out lack of unity and organization hurts us. Measurably.

Like I've been saying, and taking shiat for, fark this guy. He should be fired with prejudice- and then sued by the driver.

Saulsa: CrazyCracka420: The bikers learned a valuable lesson about cause and effect, and physics that day.  There's consequences for your actions, hopefully the bikers learned something.

You know better than that.  They didn't learn a thing that day.

I was wondering where the sound of conga dancing was coming from.  Now I know, the SUV lawyers offices.

What is that legal phrase lawyers use in this case?  Firehose of Money?

Let's see, the Officer is facing internal administrative charges instead of criminal charges.

Basically, the worst possible punishment he faces is being forced to retire and collect his pension.  If he's too young, he'll go get a better paying job as a Sergeant in New Jersey or Long Island.  SInce his name is being kept confidential, nobody will ever know anyway.

And yet they wonder why there is such an undercurrent of disgust and distrust for them among the populous at large.
At some point this crap HAS to stop, or there will be a tipping point and things with get ugly and nasty. And bad things WILL start to happen to them.

jayphat: Genuine question: is anyone else concerned at the fact the driver didn't have his car doors locked?

Is that why they smashed his window or is that from the standard biker instruction manual.

We've past that tipping point.....as concerns the 1%.  For decades now the badge clowns have been farking the 99% with impunity.  Apparently the badge clown in question didn't get the memo about how farking with 1% banksters is a no-no.  Maybe his bosses believed it was just common knowledge?  The NYPD will now haul all its officers in for a bit of retraining.   Farking with the 99% is still encouraged.   Look cross-eyed at a bankster driving a $100K SUV, and you're walking a beat in the South Bronx.

Doesn't really matter as I see it. Station/status in life has no bearing on this issue in my eyes. NYPD is a group that needs to clean up their own backyard and start living by the same set of laws the rest of us do, or there will be a continual down-slide in relations with the public at large.
If this case isn't enough for them to get it through their shiat-for-brains skulls then ultimately they are going to have to live with people not respecting them and taking any possible chance to run down their reputation and use it against them whenever they want salary/benefits upgrades.

I hope the involved officers are placed on foot duty right down by the water in Battery Park for the entire winter so they can freeze their nuts off.
