RUDDER UP! RUDDER UP!

Fake so fake. Not even a good effort on the flop.

2013-10-08 11:28:25 AM
Those special effects were even better than Jaws 3!

I'm not calling fake exactly.. But..

You mean to tell me this man, and his crew with all these cameras strapped to everything set this huge life risking stunt up and all they have is some shiatty footage that looks like some badly done homemade special effect?

Fake or not  it's 2 Minutes too long. skip to 1:40 unless you want to watch him shave.

Very, very cool. Now he needs to add some 2(HO)+NI rockets and fire them just before impact. OR better yet, have them fire with an on board Atmel AVR Risc 32 bit processor that calculates height and velocity. Rate of descent fires the rockets before impact making it possible to land on dry land. Without a parachute.

Hey. You never know. It might work.

I hate Arduino pin by the way. Not that you'd care.

I have no idea if it's fake or not, but all the cuts back and forth as he is landing indicate to me it is either fake or poorly edited.

I'm glad they had 1:38 minutes of his explaining and getting ready (chatting, having a shave, etc) before they got to business. Otherwise that whole video would have sucked.

This is as real as Airplane Repo.

Subby: Wing suit man bored of imitating birds, decides to imitate boat duck.

I tried to fix it for you subby, but it's too broken.

er.... I rubbed one out to him shaving.

First landing without a chute? Guess the guy that landed in the cardboard boxes, a year ago, don't count.

Worst cuts ever.  Not worth the effort to fake OR do it for real if that is the final product.

Thanks, guys.  Day 1 was essential.

Yeah... i'm not buying the landing. Speed is too low, and you cant dip in feet first at that angle without rag-dolling end over end. Anyone who's been water skiing or wakeboarding can tell you that water doesn't feel like liquid when you hit it at 30-50mph, and wingsuits usually come in at 60-80mph.

Amazing how they came up with special effects which made the whole thing look like an 8mm home video. It even had the light burnout you used to get towards the end of the reel.
The question remains: why the fark would anyone do that.

Yeah, it's fake, but...

I saw a speed-skier do a bail at about 80 mph, and after hitting on his back, he slid flat on the water for a good hundred yards before his speed dropped enough for his body to dig in. Of course, he lost his swimsuit pretty quickly, but he didn't have any obvious injuries.

With a low enough descent rate, and a reasonably flat body posture, someone should be able to manage this.

Not me, of course. I'm not crazy in that particular fashion.

Looks to me like the wing suit is a different color on "landing".

Very nice. Explains how his landing seemed so abnormally long (compare to Sully)

The guy behind him, did he also fake-land in the water?

I assume the camera man pulled his parachute??

I think he was just in on pulling our leg...

It's still real to me, dammit!

Actually, I just wanted to comment on how clear that water is. Beautiful.

Real or fake, I wouldn't want to be in a wingsuit in water.

2013-10-08 10:35:01 PM
I don't care who you are, or what you do.  I don't give a flying shiat knowing what it's like to see you shave, or drive somewhere.  Just do your thing.  Leave all the pointless banal details out.

Because that can't possibly be the part of the suit that extends between his feet right?

Bad cuts are often used to obscure special effects / fakeness.

When posting a link to a video, it should be mandatory to tell me a couple key pieces of information:
1) At what point does the action start (so I don't have to watch Day 1)
2) How long the critical footage lasts (in this case about 1 second)

/ I'm sure most of us assume there will be music that adds nothing to the video and so we leave the speakers turned off
// Always appreciate the SFW/NSFW tags
/// It looked fake

No.. Anyone who looks at that freeze frame can tell his body isn't even in the water.. It's faker than fake...

I agree, what I was saying was that a less fake video would have had him basically plopping into the water, even with a flare. The glide on the water's surface was really bad not just because you could find the raft, but it just wasn't good physics.
