If the Jets find a way to pull out that division and extend Rex Ryan's contract, it might be the lulziest thing in the NFL since the buttfumble.

Seriously, as a life-long Dodgers fan, I hate the Braves almost as much as the Giants.

I'm glad they finalized it and got a bit of extra rest. But I seriously wonder about the logic of starting Kershaw by bumping him up in the rotation, especially since the game prior you let him throw 120+ pitches.

Atlanta lost to an offense schemed by a guy who thought it was to his advantage to take the wind in overtime.  That should be worth some shame as they're breaking down tape this week.

2013-10-08 07:54:31 AM
I despise the Braves so this is just glorious. As for the MNF game, it's time to realize the Jets aren't as bad as everyone thought, oh and I despise the Jets too

I called the Braves dissapointing everyone in the post season at the all star break.  I am unpleasantly not suprised.

The Falcons, on the otherhand, have just been unexpectedly terrible.  I know they have a lot of injuries, but what the hell guys?

Which all star break? 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, etc

I'm in a survivor league where 2/3 of the people took Atlanta this week for some odd reason, so I'm getting a kick out of this.

The league is incredibly more entertaining with Rex Ryan as head coach of the Jets.  Hell they should make him GM and team President for Life.

1/2 of my people went out this week as well.  I feel my strategy of taking anyone who plays the Jags is gonna work out well.

Ha! Yea it's kind of par for the course with Atlanta.  So predictable you can almost set your watch by it.

Braves Elimination Day is always sweet.

Why they thought they could get the *exact* *same* *pitch* past Uribe three times in a row, I don't know.

The Braves just have an awful manager, and Hudson would have helped.

There's a lot of people playing that strategy.  Out of the people left in my survivor game, I think 4 of the 6 took StL over Jacksonville this week.  I took KC over TEN (although if I'd known about Nate Burleson and Megatron I would've taken GB over Detroit).

This week JAX is playing Denver but a lot of people have already used Denver, so I'm going with Chicago over New York on Thursday night.

My ace in my pocket is that I avoided using Seattle when they hosted Jacksonville, so I can still use them another time they're at home.

You have a 1 run lead. It's the 8th inning. You're facing elimination. Better make sure you save your lights out closer for a potential 9th inning. No need to ask him to get 6 outs

Nothing, but we were better than usual this year in offense.

Wow, your like Nostra-freaking-damus or something.  FYI, we Atlanta fans called it 10-15 years ago.  This is what our teams do, they suck.  Nothing new here.

Here's another "prediction" - UGA will lose if they make the SEC Championship.  Teams from Georgia all have the same choke gene. Yet people wonder why no one ever shows up for most Atlanta teams games.  Because we know the outcome.  Somehow, someway they will find a way to choke.

This. No greater teases in sports than teams from Atlanta. I've got tickets to next week's game at the Dome and it is the first time I've ever wanted to resell tickets. This shiat is embarrassing.

It's so sad to see the self-appointed defenders of the unwritten rules of baseball out of the playoffs.

Who will decide who's home run trot takes too long now?

When the Dodgers get a man on 2nd in the 8th I (being a lifelong Braves fan) turn to my wife (who doesn't give a rats ass about sports) and say "This isn't good".

She says, "It's okay, get the next three out, and they'll be fine."

I say, "I'm worried about the two run homer".

After it happens she looks at me and sort of giggles and says "How did you know?"

"I've been a life long Braves fan, I've seen this movie over and over and over."

She gave me sex later so it wasn't a TOTAL lost night.

the falcons are like the WWE of the NFL, or an awesome quick time event in a video game... you can be entertained by the circus catches and the midget running backs and the black & red color scheme... but in the back of your mind you can't help but think "this is all paper thin", and then wonder why you're not watching something else

Was thinking of using Chicago as well...I haven't used Denver and would like to keep them around for a while, but their schedule gets a little tougher after Jacksonville and I'm thinking of using them while they're hot.

And the Jets are missing a starting CB and their #1 WR.  With a rookie.  And your idiot coach decided to go for it at the end of the second half.  Missing your linebackers doesn't have anything to do with your secondary being soft as shiat, and the entire defense being unable to tackle, or the play-calling.

I was behind home plate last night, and I've never heard a crowd louder than that moment Uribe hit that jack.

The entire MLB fanbase should thank the Dodgers as they made it so that nobody has to be subjected to that god-awful chant anymore this year.

When Pitt lost, it wasn't such a bad gamble (although they made the decision before the end of that game, so it's not as smart). If you close out, you get Grienke/Kershaw as 1/2, and both of them can pitch two games in the NLCS if you need them. It's just you've switched Zack and Clayton in the order, and Kershaw can't pitch three times in a game 7. At some point, they'll have to pitch Nolasco.

I thought going for it was fine.  What wasn't fine was running the ball.  A 4th and goal play resulted in an obvious pass int to avoid Gonzalez making a play?  Cool.  Keep doing that and forcing the issue.

I actually assumed that would be what the thread was about.
I actually feel bad for those luckless bastards, Jones and Gonzales were the only things separating that team from the Jaguars and now Gonzales will be covered by about 3 guys every play.

If my team's fans chanted like that all game long, I doubt I'd be going to (m)any games.  That chant is bad karma.

Disclosure: I've probably been to 200 Dodger games, and I hate the wave.  It was cute at first ('81?), but Jesus Christ.

Time was running out.  They had six or seven chances to get it into the endzone and couldn't convert.  They should have taken the points, especially given how well the Jets offense had been playing, not turning the ball over and sustaining drives.  It was a bad decision, especially against the Jets defense.

This is where the Braves should have said: "We have a one-run lead with a runner on second and zero outs.  Maybe this is a good time to deploy this Craig Kimbrel guy who is really good at striking guys out.  It sure would suck if we give up our lead and have to face Jansen with elimination on the line."  You know what righties like Uribe hit against Kimbrel in 2013?  .116 with 3 extra-base hits in 126 PA.

Instead, they said "NO.  The MAGIC rules binder says a CLOSER can only appear in the NINTH."  And now they're keeping Kimbrel fresh for April.  Nice work, Fredi.
