when she grows up she should forget about a fancy house and instead buy a Lamborghini

I don't think living in a Lamborghini would be terribly comfortable.

Someone should have the crap kicked out of them for painting that car, that color.

It says in TFA that it was temporary and just for this particular occasion.

There's no way they painted it.  It's probably a film.  Tons, tons cheaper.

I like him, he is always affable and decent in the series. Good on him, happy for that little gal.
Jeremy Clarkson however is a pedantic twat I would very much like to kick in the bollocks.

I woud have thought it was film too.  Maybe they sprayed it because of all the acute angles in the bodywork?  I dunno, just guessing.  Either way, nice work Make-a-wish-type peoples and car dealer.

Clarkson: We here on Top Gear will endeavor to deliver a set of lungs for transplant, shhtolen from a shady looking bloke, found driving in a Hilux, on the outskirts of Rio. Surely, we could fly them across the Atlantic in an ice box, but where would the fun in all that be?

:: challenge please ::

That'sh right, we'll be converting these shuper cars into jet canoesh.

Whichever of us failsh to deliver our lung portions shall be forced to have a date... with a snotty disabled child in need of lungs... IN A PINK LAMBORGHINI.

Cool story but since when are 8 year-olds considered "tweens"? I thought that was the 10-12 age range between the single digit and teen years that saturates the Beiber and Twilight fanbases.

It's plastidip, it peels off like a sticker, no actual paint was applied nor was the car sanded.

It is not even a little bit surprising that he would dot this. Ever since the accident, he has been very involved with a trust for children who, like him, have suffered traumatic brain injuries.  He doesn't sound his own trumpet about it, he just does it.

His book about life before and after the accident makes a surprisingly good read (or a good listen if, like me, you get the audiobook).

It's hard to know the real personality behind the stars, but all three Top Gear UK presenters come across as surprisingly decent guys, even taking Clarkson's non PC spoutings into account.

Guys, don't panic.

The car was Plastidipped. If you freeze the video on the shot of the painter preparing, you can see PLASTIDIP in big lettering on the jugs of paint. There's no way anybody would ever ruin a Lamborghini's resale value by repainting it pink; someone owns that car, and it's not Richard Hammond.

You peel Plastidip off after you're done.

2013-10-07 11:59:24 PM
Ah, I see now, the linked site edited the video and removed that shot.

What if it had been factory original paint? Lamborghini will gladly paint a car any color a customer asks for.

It wouldn't be factory original; pink would be custom and would have the usual impact on resale value. Only Nicki Minaj wants to buy one of these in pink.

I think the standard finish only comes in black and yellow from the factory (out of something like 15 total colors/finishes), though I might be wrong.

Why does it matter ? it's a car. A beautiful car, but still just a car. One of several thousand. If an owner wanted it in pink or day-glo green, more power to them. If you don't like it, get yours in a colour you prefer.

/hope this little girl gets to grow up and buy herself a pink Lambo.

Good on whoever spotted the Plastidip.  I was going to guess they put some kind of peel-off decal on the car and then sprayed over it, so they could just pull it all off, but something that's meant to come off entirely on its own makes even more sense.

Honest answer I have no idea how the BBC does their stuff over there.  Also, since when in CA a flyover state? I can't really rebuff anything else you said,  I don't watch the boo-boo stuff (more of a completive eating/cooking guy.  why yes I  am fat. Surprised? shouldn't be.)

Wrong co-presenter. It's May who lacks any sense of direction.

I don't care if he picks his nose and farts in bed--Richard Hammond deserves a big round of applause for taking the time to do this for a deserving kid.

/Probably helps that he has kids of his own
//Would love to just pick May's brain for a day
///And drive on the TG test track with Clarkson
