If you're an elected official with a social media account your postings *should* run the gamut from "Wow, what a great hometown Memorial Day Parade" to "Wow, what a moving Veterans' Day Parade," with maybe a "Can't wait for this weekend's church pancake breakfast" when you're feeling REALLY saucy.

Thankfully for all of us, most of them ignore this rule.

That's true, but I already presumed that posting on Fark means the end of one's political ambitions.

sporkme: This is clearly stupid, tactless, disgusting, all of this...

BUT before you vote for representative, especially a president (probably 8 years) or senator (6 years, likely perpetual) or a judge if your locale elects them, it might be good to know that they might not be around for the full term, particularly in a primary.

Except the guy with cancer was a fellow Republican who endorsed a Democrat who was running - not an oposing candidate.  Hence the brilliant  "something's wrong with his brain" line from his attacker.

The Democrats health seems to be a-ok.

"I think what he said was horrible. He apologized. However, when you say things, they have consequences and there are people in the county that are still clamoring for him to go so this has become a distraction for the local party to do their job."

You know, it's not my favorite.  I would make edits and I would make it more apologetic.  But honestly, that's good enough.  I'm gonna go ahead and give a kudos to the Florida GOP chairman.  This is so much better than an "I'm sorry they took offense to it."

So, Kudos GOP chairman.

Mine looks very similar.

so fine, you are anti-R as they currently stand. no problem with that.
I do have one of those serious questions.
When you look back now, ignoring the cheating on his wife, do you think Clinton was:
a) the devil - did NOTHING GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY HATE HATE HATE
b) no better or worse than reagan/bush 1.0
c) oh god I wish I could take my vote back
d) other

You two are the first "republicans" which I have ever met who have admitted to switching to anti-R.
I am genuinely interested in how you revisit the past decisions.
Was it as simple as the lesser of two obvious evils.

/to be honest, mostly clinton. I can give you voting against carter, mondale, dukakis.
/I still voted for C, M and D; but I am a single issue voter, pro-choice. period.

Teddy Roosevelt. If you don't agree, he will rise from the grave and beat you to death with his 30 lb iron moose balls at the stroke of midnight.

Wow, you went all the way from voting Dole over Clinton; that's quite the changeover. 2000 was my first Presidential election, but my record looks the same from then until present.  And I'll second the part about other people doing the same.  I know a lot of people that have made the full swing from straight R to anti-R; a whole bunch of them being combat vets from the last 10 years.

That was such a shiatty article that I couldn't tell who had cancer, who still had cancer, or who was attacking people who had cancer. "Tucker posted a Facebook comment when Republican Pinellas County Commissioner John Morroni endorsed a Democrat for a city council seat."

Amazing journalism. I still can't tell what is going on.
