That will impress the hell out of the 65-year-old demographic.

I don't trust news unless they have freakishly large consumer electronics.

A top five cable network, FNC has been the most watched news channel in the country for more than ten years and according to Public Policy Polling, is the most trusted television news source in the country.
I really can't add anything stupider than that, so I won't.

You know what would impress a 65-year-old?  A whippersnapper like you coding a Fortran app with Hollerith cards.  Icons and touchscreen are for pussies.

Why? How in the world can that possibly help them accurately and impartially report the news?

I thought this was a parody.  I'm still not sure.

Just put a pic of the Fox newsbabes on each one and touch in strategic areas, and ratings will soar.

In all fairness, they can be the most "watched" and most "trusted," and still be the least "honest."

Ok... I was prepared to be outraged at an outragous article feigning outragous outrage, but then I saw this:

Those really are WTF big... and why are they surrounding Shepard smith?

What is the idea here?  Is it like the retweet show?  Some lame attempt to find some significant number of <50year olds?

Am I the only one who seriously LOL'd at the 55" tablets that looked like they were using 1280X1024 resolution?  It's much moreconvenient when working to have to actually turn your head to read a full sentence!  My guess is they are props and the people have to sit there and act like they are doing stuff during the scripted show.

Now that I see it again and (LOL'd) it reminds me of something you would see in spaceballs.  The people need to be wearing those white helmets.

It has to be a parody or prank of some sort, right!?

Yeah, but I want one, and I bet you wouldn't turn one down either.  For the news, though, it seems a little silly.

Countdown until we see a screengrab on Fark of one of those screens showing something pornographic or Probama.

they aren't there to 'help them accurately and impartially report the news'... they are there to impress the 65 year olds and the sub 90 iq demographics.

Making objects on a touchscreen gigantic so they fill up a 55" display doesn't make it easier to use. It actually makes interaction slower because your arm now has to travel much farther to get your hand across a larger surface. Instead of using what looks like 1440x900 on a 55" screen, why not give them 7200x4500 with larger zoom capability?

it's not for ease of use.

It's so old people can see them dang-durned iPhone-thingies without puttin' on their dang-durned bifocals.

Sure. I was thinking the other day, what could make news more fascinating than the on-air "talent" reading random "tweets" and Facebook posts aloud?

And here they've answered the question: a giant screen showing the random tweets and Facebook comments.

We truly do live in an age of wonder.

Yeah, Microsoft must be serving up some mighty tasty kool-aid to get news networks to change to a less productive touch/gesture screen UI.

CNN still has Clippy in the corner and oddly enough, MSNBC is using Linux.

This is the stupid. I mean, this is up there in the levels of stupidity. Right next to CNN (you know, the only real reliable truthful news source) having Wolf Blitzer join in via "hologram".

//But they run Windows 8!
