naughtyrev: Obama's making unannounced stops at FEMA sites. It's time, people. He's preparing them to start the camps. When it comes, don't say I didn't warn you!
James!: If you hate the ACA so much work to get a majority in the senate in 2014.
ManateeGag: James!: If you hate the ACA so much work to get a majority in the senate in 2014.after this bullshiat, that's not likely to happen.
markie_farkie: The shutdown is starting to have real effects back home for a lot of people, and has gone beyond the faux outrage generated by Fox and similar sources..
MaudlinMutantMollusk: Are we at 'Triple dog dare' level yet?/because I'd love to see Boehner with his tongue stuck to a flag pole
NuttierThanEver: When did American politics start to become a thread on /b/?
James!: If they do put it up for a vote and the republicans vote against it they won't be able to claim that it's the democrats who are keeping the government shut any more.
Diogenes: Seriously. How many doomed ACA repeal votes did they try? Did we break 50 yet?Hold the vote. What's the worse that can happen, Mr. Speaker?(oh yes - getting your weak ass bluff called)
Dusk-You-n-Me: No easier way for Boehner to prove he doesn't have the votes than by holding a vote. It would pass and he knows it.
hardinparamedic: naughtyrev: Obama's making unannounced stops at FEMA sites. It's time, people. He's preparing them to start the camps. When it comes, don't say I didn't warn you!Oh wonderful. I need the automatic overtime pay that comes with a FEMA deployment.Plus, I'd LOVE to torture some True 'Murican Tea Party survivalists.
El Pachuco: There's a reason I have you flagged as favorite: torture apologist .
Coco LaFemme: John Boehner has to be one of the most ineffectual Speakers of my lifetime. He's totally and completely useless.
Dinki: At the same time, Boehner took to the House floor to slam Obama for failing to "sit down and negotiate" to end the shutdown and debt ceiling impasses. No, you alcohol addled oompaloompa. just pass the damn CR and get over it.
Serious Black: I've heard a few people argue that Boehner knows he has to fund the government and he has to lift the debt ceiling, but he also knows the only way to do either of those things will inevitably lead to the suicide caucus throwing him out as Speaker. If he held a vote to fund the government via a clean CR today, he would get deposed and replaced with somebody who really will refuse to raise the debt ceiling by October 17th and trigger a global depression. The only way out without collapsing the worldwide economy is to do a package CR funding and debt limit increase.
skylabdown: HOORAY government shutdown!/only small % for show//Not really shut down///except for vacation stuff so it pisses people off////Welcome to political theater run amok//HOOOOORAY BEER!
geek_mars: The irony here is that if Boehner called for the vote and it did fail, he'd be able to reinforce his point and that might give him some actual leverage to bring Democrats to negotiate on something they shouldn't have to negotiate on. Plus, he'd be able to brag about how he was right and then chastise Obama for wasting Congress' time.He has everything to gain if he's right about it not passing, but he won't bring it to a vote. Do we really need to wonder why?
Infernalist: Aggressive Obama is Best Obama.
Infernalist: The discharge vote will be held on Monday, with or without his consent. The we can get to the debt ceiling.
namegoeshere: You know who Boehner is? Craig Toomey from The Langoliers.
