wxboy: I wonder how many empty seats there will be in Detroit.  The game time (1 pm) wasn't set until after the end of the business day on Friday, so many people aren't able to get off of work to go.  Tickets were on Stubhub for as little as $16.

The absurdly announcement of game times was a problem.  The "businessman's special" game time is a slap in the face.

Walking the guy up before Cabrera, great idea!

2013-10-07 04:06:18 PM
Phew, nevermind.

The good news: We came back from 5 down in the bottom of the 9th two weeks ago

The bad news: We're not playing Chicago

Scruffinator: NikkiPoooo: NikkiPoooo: At least the guy says Alvarez right, though how could you not? I wonder if he's ever even watched a Tiger's game where Verlander or Scherzer wasn't pitching.

I take that back, he managed to say Alvarez wrong, too. I'm starting to think the guy has never seen a Tiger's game, period. Since I started watching in the 5th he hasn't said a word about any Tiger that wasn't straight up numbers off a sheet. When the A's are at bat he talks about nothing but the batters, and when the Tigers are at bat he talks about the A's pitching, fielding, history, and other announcers.

He's been saying "Por-chello" for the entire game and nobody has corrected him.  It's awful.

I tweeted them. He's said it since then, so I guess nobody noticed.

He left out the fine dining available around Oakland.

Assuming the A's close this one out, who do the Tigers have going tomorrow for them? Is there a chance they'll throw Scherzer out there on however many days' rest he has?

This looks like another rough inning for Detroit.

That town has an Everett and Jones BBQ restaurant. That's all it needs.

Oh well, the Tigers had a decent year. When the bats go cold, the bats go cold!

There was no need to bring that August game up, dickhead announcer...

Fister is slated for tomorrow.  I really don't see Scherzer going in, maybe in relief in an emergency.

No, he just pitched on Friday and I think they'll want him for a game 5. Fister is the guy for tomorrow.

Nice job, Morton, getting out of that jam.  He's definitely been worth his salt today.

2013-10-07 04:22:47 PM
And thanks to the TV announcers for reading this thread and discussing the very subject of Scherzer.

Bucs need some runs quick, Morton is about to take another trip through the lineup and that makes me nervous.

Agreed - and Wacha is chewing up the PIrates' batters.

Dodgers pushing Kershaw up to tonight......I'm thinking backfire...

That came out of nowhere.

Balfour cusses at himself and batters think he's talking to them.

2013-10-07 04:30:35 PM
I flipped away from PIT/STL to see this happening in Detroit. What the hell happened????

Grant Balfour and Victor Martinez started jawing at each other and it escalated.

What's a Balfour?  For ringing silly!

2013-10-07 04:31:55 PM

MartinaMcSorley: Well, I guess the Dodgers don't want to go back to Atlanta.

Just saw that.  I hope Donnie Baseball has thought his cunning plan all the way through.  He's been managing panicky.  If they hit like they did last night, it'll be moot.

2013-10-07 04:31:57 PM
I'm surprised that got sorted so quickly.

Balfour likes to yell at clouds in the sky and Martinez thought he was a cloud.

2013-10-07 04:32:29 PM
In the meantime, Wacha is STILL PERFECT through five, still has not allowed ANY HITS OR WALKS.  That means his game has been PERFECT so far.

2013-10-07 04:32:38 PM
Knew it, HUrdle should have too.

2013-10-07 04:33:12 PM
Dear announcers: I really doubt that Balfour is "unnerved". The guy just doesn't give a fark.

2013-10-07 04:33:16 PM
Pet prevent: referring to the Pirates as the Bucs

/ the Bucs just gave up a HR! Yes!!!!

Holliday 2 run bomb!

Scruffinator: I'm surprised that got sorted so quickly.

In June, maybe it doesn't, maybe it ends in something suspension-worthy. Playoffs? You get yourself under control in a hurry or your winter's gonna start real quick.

2013-10-07 04:33:44 PM
YES!!! Holliday finally earns a bit of his pay.

Dammit Morton...

Farking FINALLY.  I was beginning to think there was some sort of law prohibiting any Cardinal other than Beltran from having an RBI.

Fair enough.  Things just seemed really heated down there.

You know, I've been trying to jinx Wacha for a while because I'm rooting for Pittsburgh, but I must admit a chance to see a perfect game happen in the playoffs is pretty sweet.

First is a good choice to go. He is a solid pitcher but not what he was in 2011. Gives up few walks but a good number of hits (few are HR's).

His SO/BB is 3.61. His WHIP took a jump this year because he is giving up alot of singles.

Staily is SO/BB is  2.18. His BB/9 is double Fister's but he gives up fewer hits.

2013-10-07 04:40:09 PM
Is every team going to start chanting the pitchers' name after Pittsburgh blew up Cueto?

2013-10-07 04:40:34 PM
Well, shiat.  Here's hoping to a game 5.

The kid came one out away from a no hitter a week or so ago. He seems to be the real deal.

sigh
