Forklift. It was a forklift.

All the smart bank thieves are just stealing money electronically nowadays. Or working on Wall Street.

Wait, is that redundant?

2013-10-07 11:16:47 AM
It was a forklift with a stealth drive.

Actually, that looks like a backhoe in the photos.  In a related story, you can drive a battleship sized machine up to a bank, trash the building, on camera, leave, and the cops will have no idea who did it.

Unless you're looking at different pics than I am, then no, it looks nothing like a backhoe.  It looks like a JCB telescopic handler with a fork attachment.

/why yes, I am quite outraged about this discrepancy and wish to argue impotently with a stranger on the internet about it...

Ok, what about yesterday's attempt and the day before's attempt and....  No ATM is safe around there, obviously.

Class V vs. Class VII forklifts. The Clark is a class V. The JCB is very useful. We use it to move boulders in the campgrounds. One can extend the boom and reach inside a campsite and drop a huge rock without leaving tracks that have to be raked out.

Don't they have censers in ATMs so if tilted a dye pack stains the money.

No it doesn't. It looks like one of those big forklifts, used on construction sites. You can clearly see the forks.

That isn't the vehicle that comes to mind when I hear "forklift," but I'd still end up calling it a big ass forklift thing. It is most certainly NOT a backhoe.

Why do that.  Have a cell phone inside and call the security office with its location.  No need to dirty the money.

I forget how that ATM in BB came open. Anyway it seems the proper tool would be some kind of saw without a sex toy attached. Something like this:

CSB

My company just had a bunch of ATM's installed at various locations that didn't already have them. Talking with the install tech, he had just finished at a site where they replaced the ATM. A guy walked in dragging a chain behind him, said hi to the cashier, wrapped the chain around the ATM, waved goodbye to the cashier and walked out the door. Ten seconds later he tried rocketing out the door with the ATM attached to the back of his truck. Needless to say he failed.

uncleacid: Looks like they forked up.

Hypothetically speaking, maybe they should have used the fork/prong/whatever to bust the machine open. Or pick it up and drop it so it springs open, or knock it over and drive over it with something rugged & heavy. Or drill out the locks. I never actually inspected an ATM looking for an illicit way to get at the money through the hardware, but there has to be a better way than stealing the whole damn machine: obviously that's more trouble than it's worth or we wouldn't keep reading about all these failed attempts.

Time Warner is the motherf*cking worst.

They have at least one major router on the east coast that is a total piece of unbelievable sh*t.

If you smash the keypad with a sledge and run a chain through the new hole nd out the cash dispenser, the door will rip off quite cleanly.

Don't ask.
