Yeah, there's a world of difference between a robot controlled remotely by people, and an autonomous platform.

Also: it's still cheap for Russia to grab conscripts, give them a rifle and some foot wrappings, and call it a day. There's no way they're replacing their current standing army with robots.

Well, we would cower for that, except we typically use up all that time for whatever DARPA wants to show.

It's cheap, but robots being political benefits as well as being a manpower multiplier.
...and then there is the export market.

/men get cold, hungry, question orders, spill secrets.
/sensor guided weapon platforms don't.

The Russian Robot got it's ass handed to it in Pacific Rim, they can't let that outrage stand.

They are only resorting to robots because they dont have enough people; however, I am willing to do my part to repopulate Russia.

Another priority of the state armament program "is weaponry based on new physical principles," he added.

When I read stuff like that I generally throw out the rest of the report. Russians went from belief in Tsar and Church, to belief in State, to belief in nothing, to belief in anything.

Unless they have what's in the bag.

Robot Jox is in my top 5 favoritest movies of all time. It's actually the source of the primary handle I use on the internet (not this Pip one).

Chainsaw penis beats all.

""Am good dog?"

W3 is one of my all time favorites.  If we as a country start melding house pets with terminators then we deserve what comes next.

I think they are talking about the T-99 or Armata tank platform.

media.desura.com

The tank will have an unmanned, remotely controlled turret. It will be digitally controlled by a crewmember located in a separate compartment. It is believed this would eventually lead to the development of a fully robotic tank.
