IronTom: vpb: IronTom: Weak excuse for barring Americans from Americana.  Oh there are some lefty plants that painted some crap on a monument hence providing a cover narrative to support  no longer letting you see the real America, let's wrap them with a picture of Miley Cyrus and armed swat teams so you can't get inspired by the exceptional America, and maybe you'll forget about it.

I heard that Obama stole the statue of Liberty to sell the copper for scrap.

On a more serious note, what is the probability that there is any gold left in Fort Knox?

Glenn Beck sold it all.

Who did?

It says in the article that the National Park Service put up those cones on the road.

Obama sent a bunch of furloughed NP employees to my house. They ate all my food, drank all my beer and they shaved a B on my dog. True story

No they didn't.  What they did do was put up cones on the road to prevent people from stopping and viewing Mr. Rushmore to be vindictive.

Ok. But who the hell is the Rushmore guy and why does everyone want so desperately to see him? This guy?

Yesterday my GF and I drove down to Mabry Mill in Meadows of Dan, VA. Upon arrival, there was a sign up that said "Closed until further notice due to government shutdown". Several people were there and all said the same thing....."Thanks again Obama".
I know everyone wants to think the republicans will suffer for this shutdown, but they won't. There are plenty of people who blame Obama for this. There won't be a major political shift towards democrats because of this shutdown.

It's a different world today.  Without the normal number of security staff, guides, rangers, and maintenance employees keeping an eye on things the monuments could easily become attractive targets for terrorism.  There were already a number of instances of people defacing the monuments earlier this year before the furloughs removed most of those who keep watch.

So, if a momument gets hit with terrorism, still blame Obama for preventing Real Muricans from catching them. After all, that's how we got the Boston Bombers and the Lincoln Memorial Paint Lady.

According to that, the federal government put those there to stop people from stopping *on the side of the road* to view Mount Rushmore, to encourage them to use the actual viewing areas where you pull off. So that, you know, you don't have a bunch of cars on the side of the road blocking the breakdown lane and slowing down traffic. None of the actual viewing areas were closed.

But, yeah, some people will continue to insist that it's something else because socialism.

It doesn't really matter to me one way or another. People will think what they want to think, depending what side of the political spectrum they're on. I've just noticed the political bias of Fark more than usual lately. There's been a lot of hoping and wishing around here that republicans will take 100% of the blame for this.
