LOL. The only reason it's "widely discussed" online is the tinfoil hat brigade churns that Threat to AmericaTM daily.

The awesome thing about that is that if it was somehow allowed GWB could run against him. And hand him his ASS.

This same shiat was flying around the web with Bush.  Glad we have the Washington Times to let us know what crazy people on the Internet are saying.

Tom Hanks made a joke about wanting "four more years" for Obama.  The moonies had a bit of a stroke when they googled "obama third term,"  and used probably the most inconsequential person as a citation.  Then they gave up on the idea, but forgot to mention that to the writer.

I don't have a problem with Obama getting another term, as long as it is 25 to life....

IF the law was changed, Obama would lose in a landslide in the Primary to Bill.

2013-10-06 10:26:00 AM
What if he just ran anyway? People would say, "You can't run for a third term, Mr. President." And he could say, "There's nothing that says I can't 'run' for a third term...just that I can't serve it." And then he'll win, and we'll have no president.

Oh the lols that will be had.

I can only assume you mean it's because GWB would be so popular there wouldn't even be an election and that the crack is dulling my senses so I understated that. Cause obviously.

Well, this seems legit (FTFA): "But do a Bing search on "Obama seeks third term" and the more than 2 million hits that come back reveal the notion is both widely discussed and widely reported. MSN, for instance, in August reported on...."

When is the last time you heard a human being use the word "Bing" without an "o" at the end?

Funny, when you use quotes, they all seem to disappear.

On the other hand, Carter could surprise us all by skipping his second term entirely:

After all, it's 7 times more likely, by Washington Times logic.

Third term?

2013-10-06 11:10:35 AM
I'm just throwing out ideas, but what if when Hillary is president in 2016 she selects Obama as Secretary of State.  One day Hillary, the Vice President, Speaker of the House, and President pro tempore of the Senate all die in a mysterious explosion where the bodies are never found.  Bam, Obama is president for  a third term.  In 2020 Hillary and friends come out of hiding and say "Lol, just kidding".  Hillary then is elected and serves two terms from 2020-2028.

I imagine a great many of them seek out the job with honest belief they are going to make a difference, to change things, and to really help the country. But then they actually take office...

And hell some of them do make a difference but damn it must be absolutely soul crushing to spend 8 years trying to change the course of a ship that refuses to turn. Not only does it refuse to turn but 50% of the people on the ship hate your guts no matter which way you try to turn it.

Maybe I'm cynical but I think to get to the point where you're even in the running you have to be such a compromising, back-stabbing sellout asshole that any such idealism would be long gone. But I could be wrong.

thamike: Tom Hanks Washington Times: Master Troll Slow New Day

Fixed your fix. That story was too lazy to even be called trolling.

That noted if term limits weren't a thing and Bill Hillary and Barack all  ran for the Dem 2016 primary who would folks vote for?

I'd give Obama a third term over the others, myself.

2013-10-06 11:24:08 AM
Let's pretend, for a second, that there were no roadblocks toward Obama running for a third term.  Do you actually think he would want to?  It was a historic achievement, no doubt, but I image the last few years have been like hell for him.

This seems appropriate:  http://www.theonion.com/articles/new-gop-strategy-involves-reelecting - obama-making,21113/

Mostly empty allegations that I doubt he was even all that worried about for the most part. I didn't say his Presidency was a walk in the park but compared to Obama and GWB's, it pretty much was. All I was saying is that it seems like a pretty shiatty job even under the best of circumstances.

2013-10-06 11:27:49 AM
Term limits are anti-democratic.
/ Canadian

2013-10-06 11:27:52 AM
The key here is the wording of the 22nd Amendment:

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice

At some point after the 2014 midterms Obama (who is a lizard person) intends to reveal his cryptoIslamic nature fully to the world.  As a hypostasis of two  persons - fake-Christian and true-Muslim - the lizard-Obama need only reveal his second self (a Muslim owing fealty to al-Shabaab) to give himself a legal basis for another term.

The Christian-Obama will serve no more than two terms, but the Muslim-Obama will run for election.  Of course we won't see "Barack Obama" on the ballot, but perhaps something like "Hussein Islam al-Kenyati".  The spirit of Malcom X will be his running mate.  The votes of true, Christian Americans will be neutralized via a combination of the Black Panther Party, mind-control injections administered as part of Obamacare, and the war on Christmas.

I think it would be close. Obama has trumped Bush on a lot of policies that people hated Dubya for. Whereas Bush violated civil liberties and tortured detainees, Obama violated civil liberties and assassinated a 15 year old U.S. citizen. Bush started an elective war, but Obama really wanted to but couldn't get the votes from congress for one.

Bush also has the distinction of being the only President to avoid a government shutdown since Gerald Ford.

Personally, I think Bush is more honest than Obama and given the choice between the two worst Presidents of my lifetime, I think I'd move to a different country.

2013-10-06 11:30:07 AM
People loved Roosevelt so much that they passed a constitutional amendment so that he wouldn't come back.

That seems inefficient.  Why isn't Obama using the FEMA death camps my tax payer dollars are paying for?

Well, in the case of FDR it turned out to be the truth, and thank Heaven for that. A Taft or Dewey win in 1940 would have been a disaster for Western civilization; although Willkie was far less isolationist than those assclowns, I can't see him cooperating with Churchill as readily as Roosevelt did.
