Creativity, quick thinking, and a willingness to think outside of the box--this guy's a keeper. And where else am I going to find a man who will call in a bomb threat to my workplace just because I don't feel like going in that day?

It would have been even funnier if she'd been in on it, too. They just wanted to elope.......

I ran out of gas! I--I had a flat tire! I didn't have enough money for cab fare! My tux didn't come back from the cleaners! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!!!

Who was supposed to be paying for the hall?

If the groom was going to pick up the tab, then I can sort of see expecting him to make the booking. But still... there's other stuff that has to be coordinated with the hall, so I'm a little hard pressed to see how he wouldn't have gotten a reminder at some point ("oh shiat, have to book the hall").

If the bride's parents were paying, was there no curiosity on their part about covering the deposit, etc.?

Maybe neither side is stuffed full of rocket scientists.

I don't believe it. You're telling me there's a bride that left one of the most important details of the day to a man, and didn't bother to check up on it? She didn't call to confirm? They didn't pay a deposit?

All this, too!

No one went to decorate it? They didn't have a rehearsal?

Ah, The Daily Fail has some more details here. Apparently they'd started filling out paperwork for the use of space in a public building, but he never finalized things.

FTFA: I'm still together with Amy, but she's got high blood pressure and wants nothing to do with it.'

Apparently this happened back in April. I wonder why she hasn't dumped his sorry ass yet.

She TRUSTED him. Apparently you don't understand things like TRUST in a relationship >:(
This is why all your relationships crash and burn, while mine.......oh hey, did you see that? An angel, flying right overhead! Look over there!

Or did they give him the deposit and he used it for some... other purpose?

But, but, but; she LOVES him! Why can't you understand their love?

/ I had a cousin actually marry a guy like this. He flaked on her after 8 months. She's got a 170 iq and is a member of Mensa. I guess it doesn't really matter how smart you are; if you care about somebody.

Members of mensa usually want everyone else to know how smart they are and how often they aren't able to measure up to them. Sounds like he wised up and left.
