Nabb1: Generation_D: Apple's marketing is all about the warm family nostalgia feels you get from using an iphone. not a bit of technical expertise or cutting edge hipsterdom in sight.

in a few years they'll be the next blackberry.

I bet you bought a Zune, didn't you?

Apple has quickly lost marketshare to Android. Currently they are secondplace in the market, with Android showing no signs of slowing down, and numerous tablet/phone makers eating up Apple's lunch.

And justifiably so. iOS is garbage and Apple's closed system approach to the market is bad for the consumer.

Moonfisher: Lately the anti-iPhone derp I get emailed to me by my tinfoil hat father has been cranked up to potato. The stuff from WND refers to the iPhone as a "newfound technological gadget" designed to undermine and destroy Real Amurka. I can't wait until Google glass turns up on their radar in 8 years.

That's absolutely wizard considering that Apple is the only American phone company left.

The reason why Android has more market share than Apple is because Android is a whore.  Scratch that, whores charge money.  Android will spread its legs for any hardware manufacturer that wants to fark it.   Apple controls everything from start to finish.  Why you see one or the other of those systems as bad for the consumer is something you have talked yourself into believing but has no basis in fact.

Just a reminder, Apple "control everything" approach is the exact reason why the lost to Microsoft in the desktop wars. It looks like Apple didn't learn their lesson.

MightyPez: blugenes: Jobs was the face of the personal computer revolution but he gets a lot of credit for the work other people did.  His business savvy is impressive, but much of the technology and innovation that made said revolution possible did not come from him and in some cases did not come from Apple at all.  His death was tragic and I would not wish what he had on anyone, but there are a lot of people who deserve a slice of his fame who never get mentioned and who society has already forgotten.

It's rarely acknowledged that whenever there is a figurehead getting credit, this is  always the case. Tesla is a great case for this. If you read pop-sites on the internet you would get the impression that he was electric Jesus. But most of his work was already established, just not in widespread use. See: Alternating Current

I think that was the entire thesis of the James Burke's Connections.

Billy Bathsalt: Misconduc: wiredroach: See it was funny when the headline was about Amy Winehouse, 'cause it was original then and was largely the result of her own stupidity. Now the headline's just weak and pathetic.

Sounds like we got a apple fanboi all butthurt

Is there an opposite to Apple "fanboi"?  Because the opposing members seem way more passionate about their feelings than the usual consumer that chooses Apple products.  Applesnivelers?

Ah ... no they didn't.  Revisionist history much?

/of course Apple is different - that's actually a good thing

Don't you know that nothing existing until apple created it?
