Yeah we're on the right track. The more we don't allow kids to get hurt, the more pussified they become. The more pussified they are, the easier are they to manipulate. When they grow up, they won't be able to stand up for themselves and fight for their rights. Companies will start lowering their wages and they will be too terrified to speak up. Then the government will slowly take away their rights and all they could do is say "Well, somebody else will fix this for us!"

What a disgusting future.

Don't ban the tag, find the miscreants who turned it into a violent game.  Don't punish everyone for the sins of a few. Horrible lesson to teach at the K level.

skozlaw: bigworld2000: Don't ban the tag

They didn't, the school just has poor communications skills.

The kids were rough-housing too much, they stopped it and explained how to interact appropriately, now they're monitoring for continued inappropriate behavior.

But one whiny attention whore ran straight to the media instead of seeking clarification from the school so here we are.

What really happened was the one kid who used the game as an excuse to beat up other kids, went home and cried to his parents that he couldn't "Play Tag" anymore, because he couldn't use it as an excuse to beat up on other kids anymore, and the parents contacted the media because their little angel would never use a game as an excuse to harm other children.

Can we ban packs of feral children from shopping centers and streets as well?

The sooner my children learns that being in a pack is more beneficial in life the better.

Speaking softly and holding a big stick within the pack  ... that's another lesson.

Every day, every single day, I thank myself that I do not work in the school system anymore. I still go by and flip off some of the schools I used to work at. And to think that I used to like kids. I still do, actually. It's the people in charge of them that worry me.

/and now they don't worry me either.

Sadly, the Jerry Springer/Walmart/Big Gulp generation is out-breeding the normal kids of yesteryear.  Speaking as a public school teacher, I advocate banning all academics and focus on how not to be a POS-bucket-of-pus like 90% of the parents whose savage spawn dominate our public classrooms.  The rapture/bird flu/zombie apocalypse can't some soon enough to thin our farking herd.

This is your playground aides not being trained properly. If you can't see a bad situation developing in time to handle it, and administer the appropriate punishment, then you're not doing it right. Within a couple weeks, you know who the kids are that you have to watch, and as long as you know what they're up to, you can nip any problems in the bud.  No need to ban tag and chasing games for everyone.  They're an integral form of play and development.

Shadowknight: Before anyone tries to blame this on being some touchy-feeling, liberal thing, it's Grand Rapids, MI area.  Incredibly right leaning on that side of the state.  In addition, I'm a libby lib from the east side of the state and think this is completely stupid.

I'm (partially) Dutch, and have some "Christian Reformed" relatives there. From what I've seen, I'm thinking most of the the political & religious nutjobs from the Netherlands mass-migrated to that state back in the 1800's....

/ may explain why the Netherlands has a reputation for being tolerant; everyone that wasn't moved over to the US...

Kids play tag.
Kids get too wound while playing tag.
Kids play rough, kids get hurt.
Teachers say, "Look, if you can't play tag responsibly, you can't play tag at all."
OUTRAGE.

"Our concerns are based out of care and safety for each child," they wrote. "Yesterday we took the entire kindergarten group and modeled the correct expectations for appropriate recess behavior and demonstrated examples of safe, fun play."

No.... their concern is based on concern over liability and is the direct result of their laziness in correcting the actual potentially injurious behavior instead of eliminating the context in which it might occur.

The photo in that article is a mockery of a real playground. Where do you go to mope on the swings?

It is precisely because this area is populated by real 'mericans that tag and running in groups is being banned.  The locals think running, having fun and being trim is just unpatriotic, the tots should be watching fox news and drinking their 72 oz - F-U Bloommy- like real adults.

No running? No games of tag? Bah! I say they should teach them to hunt in packs; like wolves!

Running around outside?  The horror!  Get back inside and play violent video games, you're behind on your hours quota for GTA5.

How is it that such a large part of the population forgets childhood when they hit 21?

I'm 40 this year.  Kids were feral when I was growing up, too.

This is another example of policy replacing poor teaching. If you cannot redirect the behavior of children playing tag, you should be working retail.

Sounds about right...
Most young boys really ARE little more than a cross between violent chimpanzees and a wolf-pack anyway.

Yeah, because even in Red Statestm, teachers are known for their right wing tendencies.,  Especially Kindergarten teachers.  How do NEA political contributions tend to go again?

Anyway, this is retarded.
