Late night drunken race thread!

I love that Vettel gets boo'd on the podium.  I'm surprised he made it out of Italy alive.  He'll probably win another boring race.

Go Force India.  Go Kimi.

Foaming: Late night drunken race thread!

Just to clarify, it's the thread that's drunken, and not the racers, because the latter would be incredibly dangerous.

but also incredibly hilarious. I'm pretty sure Kimi would be all for it. And hell for once Maldonado would have an excuse.

There are other methods of enjoying the race online without possessing the channel.

I think Vegas has it at 1:5

Over/under on positions lost at start by Weber?

Over/under on NBCS showing half the race with thermal tire cam?

Yuck, Bob Varsha.  I need strange foreign accents to enjoy F1.

A lot of empty seats away from the main straight. Is that normal for F1 these days, or did the weather keep people away?

That's one way to put it yes.

JayCab: Is that normal for F1 these days, or did the weather keep people away?

No other F1 race is as far away from a major metropolitan center as the GP of Korea. And the local area has a population of 60,000.

I have to watch on the Spanish channel.

I know the F1 cars are technically incredible, but the newer wing and front end designs are just fugly.

It's normal for Korea. Rumors persist it's first in line to get dropped from the schedule, but they're still able to pay those massive FIA sanctioning fees to feed whoever's ego and/or whatever sense of national pride that is keeping the thing limping along.

Saw it Thursday. Loved it. Where did they find the old Tyrell?

F1 pit stops are absolutely insane.  You should see how long it takes me to change a single tire.

From what I understand, they relied on wealthy collectors to want to have their favorite period cars featured in the film. This made shooting a bit of a nightmare, because it was difficult to actually get all of them on the track at the same times.

One large bolt instead of five-six smaller ones helps.

Just coordinating the insurance adjustors sounds like a full time job.

I had forgotten completely about them - don't think I had ever actually seen one in motion before the little glimpse the movie offers of them. I can only imagine how finicky they would have been, but still, I just find the design very cool indeed.

Not that the stops were a whole lot slower when they had refueling.

Well sure but my tire changes usually consist of me realizing my spare is flat, inflating it, trying to find the jack point in the dark, realizing I forgot to loosen the lug nuts before jacking up the car, and trying to find the last lug nut that rolled under the car.

Five bolts and gravity-only fueling makes NASCAR much slower.

The Ferrari understeers when it gets close up behind another car? That's not good. At least at this track there aren't too many places where it could really bite them.

Isn't just that it's gravity fed fueling, it's that it's from those canisters and not a hose connected to a tank like what Indy uses.

It seems you have experience with this situation.

It's not so much Mercedes sucking, as it is Lotus getting better.

Okay, that was a weird shot: looking back up the start/finish straight as a car went into the pits in the background. Looked like a car just missed the turn and plowed through the wall.

I do have to say, I'm liking Webber with an aggressive setup.

Not on Univision either.

/but I keep expecting the announcers to start yelling Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllll......
