Well, that's not really surprising.  Fox runs stories like that without even needing an Onion type site to give them the idea.

Nice to see that Fox News doesn't believe in "bottom of the barrel."  No, when they hit the bottom, they start digging under the barrel, toward the molten core of the Earth.

I just saw one about Obama using helicopters to hold a banner over Mt Rushmore. And people actually believed it.

I've been seeing this alluded to all over C-SPAN's facebook feed since the shutdown began. Something about "keeping Muslims afloat instead of Americans." I just wrote it off at first until variants kept popping up.

The sad part about this is that no one on Fox News will get fired or serious laughs will appear in MSM on this mistake. Maybe the Daily Show.

Mine was too busy passing on the news about the one guy who was told he faced $4000 in fines if he didn't pay up.

The even worse part is that many FOX viewers will take it as gospel.  Probably demand that Issa investigate.

American news is becoming a parody of the old Soviet era reporting.  There was a Russian saying about their two news papers.  One was called The Truth and the other The News.   The saying went something like "There's no truth in The News and no news in The Truth?

It was even on the "real" Fox News, and not the utterly retarded Fox Nation.

There's neither in Fox.

And yet, it is now Truth and Reality for millions, and the liberal media denial is left wing political spin.

Parody in question. Because of all places, why wouldn't the International Museum of Muslim Cultures be located in Jackson, Mississippi?

How is this not slander?
They did not verify the story.
They just repeated something that they heard and tried to pass it off as news.

Hmmm

I guess if they are just a parody channel, then they cant be used for slander ... everything they air is a joke.

2013-10-06 03:56:51 AM
My honest first guess: Drudge
My dishonest "these guys are really this bad" (actually they aren't that bad): Fox News

So how bad does the GOP have to fark up, before we stop giving them the "it was incompetence" benefit of the doubt, and start pinning it on being malicious?

Well played, they even went the extra mile and created a parody museum site. Complete with the address of the Mississippi Museum of Art. I'm sure that site has given more than a few Islamophobes the vapors when they have stumbled upon it.

But in the fast world of TV news, it's most likely that a producer told Kooiman about the so-called news report, which then made it on air before anyone could confirm the report's details.

It bothers me that I'm apparently supposed to read this and think "oh, that's ok then" instead of "how in the holy hell is that journalism?"

Look, fact-checking takes time, time that the libs are using to employ their reality-altering devices to make conservative new outlets look stupid. When you hear about a story this juicy, you have to just run with it before the libs can undo its potential.

2013-10-06 06:34:57 AM
Here's the thing... If you show a Fox News viewer that this story was actually a parody, they'll just believe that the story was true even more. Facts, honesty, or even reality doesn't matter to the average Fox News viewer. What they care about is having their bias stroked, coddled, encouraged, and fed as much as possible. If you present something to them that doesn't fit into their worldview as it already exists, whatever you presented is either disregarded entirely or is taken as proof that the 'liberals' are trying to trick them to further their evil "liberal agenda".

2013-10-06 06:43:25 AM
"Mistakenly."

Yeah. Sure.
